What’s Happenin’?

{1}Spring Break
I wanted to start off the post with a picture from my perfect week with Nick and his brother and sister-in-law.
Epcot is having the flower and garden festival right now and it is so beautiful there!
If you can see… that’s Captain Hook and Peter Pan in the background.

{2}What I’m Reading!

Yes… I’m reading ALL THREE of these series at the PRESENT moment.  Crazy Awesome, right?
I’ve been reading Sue Grafton novels for some time now and I’m just now on the letter N.
I never read the Harry Potter series and one of my roommates has them all, so I thought now would be a good time for that.  I’m on the fourth one right now.
I reluctantly fell into the Hunger Games.  I’ve seen tons of posts about it, my sisters are obsessed, and then Nick started reading it.  He wanted me to read it with him (without getting ahead because I’m somewhat of a fast reader) so we can be done at the same time and watch the movie together when i get to town over Easter break.
Yes… I’ve actually been reading them all at the same time.

{3} SELF Challenge
Today was the start of my SELF challenge.  While I’m not necessarily sticking with the meal plan because I honestly don’t have the money to go out and buy all the food it requires, I am trying to eat healthy.
Cardio: 15 minutes, sprint for 8 seconds, recover for 12 seconds
I wasn’t a huge fan of this.  I only did about 7.5 minutes of the intervals because I felt they were too close together to keep track of.  8 and 12 seconds goes by pretty fast.  I’ll probably enjoy it more when the time is longer per interval.  I walked a good bit today too though and I took a lot of stairs today at work.

What I ate
2 slices of Jelly Toast
Greek Yogurt with Honey
Apples with Peanut Butter
Kiwi
Banana
Ritz with light cheese
Ritz with tuna
3 oreos

I really need to incorporate more veggies into my diet, so I’ll be working on that, but I went and bought a lot of fruit last night that I’m really excited about.  And the strawberries… well folks, they’re in season, and their cheap and beautiful and red!  GET SOME!

{4} Home
I’m going home! yay! Not for good unfortunately, believe me… I came close to leaving this place, but I’m not. I’m going home for Easter, my birthday, and to bring my car back down to Orlando.  I’m so excited!  I Already have a lot of fun stuff planned and I’m counting down the days!

My SELF Challenge!

I’m somewhat obsessed with magazines… I have about 5 different subscriptions and want to add more!  They all deal with food, cleaning, or working out.  So I was reading my April subscription of SELF magazine and came across this 5 week, lose 10 challenge.  It uses a lot of intervals in the cardio routine, a 5 or 10 pound dumbbell in the firm up routine, and there are some simple recipes in the meal plan.  I thought it’d be fun to give it a try.  I’m going to be honest though… I don’t plan on doing the meal plan full out because they are always way too expensive for my college budget to buy everything the recipe calls for, so I’m going to improvise on that, still try to eat healthy and follow the calorie intake while making sure to get plenty of protein.  The great thing about this plan is you get 200 free calories every day that you can use on whatever indulgence you like.  You can also roll them over to another day (up to four days)  So if I’m having a pizza party movie night or going out with friends one night, I can plan ahead and rack up 800 calories that I can use as a freebie.  I’ll do short updates in the middle of my regular posts (mostly for myself as accountability) detailing what the workout was for the day, how I did and how I felt while doing it, and a food log of what I ate.  Hopefully this will get my butt in gear for the coming weeks!!

Today should be a good day though.  I woke up around 8 (which is kind of sleeping in for me! yuck!), I’m about to have my morning coffee while I map out my 5 week plan here, and then I was planning on visiting Blizzard Beach waterpark because I had a blast at Typhoon Lagoon last weekend and I also want to run by Animal Kingdom and see about a coffee mug that I noticed last week and possibly ride Mount Everest a few times since it is possibly my FAVORITE ride!  Hope you all are having a splendid Sunday morning, I’m starting to feel good again (although, you never know how long that will last) and so hopefully I’ll be back in gear for some good upbeat blogging.  I’ve been missing everyone’s posts recently, so I’m also hoping to stay up to date on posts and commenting now.

Chocoholic!

I’ve been having trouble coming up with posts recently… mostly because it’s just been a rough couple of weeks here!  A huge problem I’ve been having with that though, is that I’m a ridiculous emotional eater.  Lately, I have had a huge crush on Chocolate… and I mean, ANYTHING chocolate… and not just during that time of the month… Let’s just say, it’s been ALL MONTH!  I need to get a hold of myself.  When I first got down here to Orlando, I was working out really good, I was losing weight, eating right… The first 3 weeks went wonderful!  My roommates even said I would be the roommate who would be most likely to run from the cops and get away haha.  ‘running’ being the key word there – because I was always running.  The past month though has emotionally, physically, and mentally spent me from work to personal to emotional, I’m exhausted!  So I’ve been downing my sorrows in tons of chocolate!  I’ve decided tonight (after downing a yoohoo in 5 seconds flat) that I needed to take charge and take better care of my body while I’m still young.  So starting tomorrow now, I’m cutting back on the junk food, getting back to my jogs outside, and leading a healthier lifestyle, because honestly… I think I’m more depressed at what I’ve allowed myself to become while I was depressed.  So I’m going to my notes, reading back up on fitness and self magazines, to help give me the push I need in the right direction.  This is me letting all of my FABULOUS 40 followers know (wow… yeah, FORTY! I hit that over spring break and was ecstatic!) that I’m getting back to running, watching what I eat, having treats in moderation, and taking my health seriously because I want to live a long and happy life, I want to reach my 80’s, 90’s, and possibly even the big 100.  And eating all this processed fatty chocolate and food isn’t going to get me there, it’s actually taking years off my life!  So I encourage you too, if you’ve been having a rough time much like myself… if you’re sad to see what you’ve become because you’re an emotional eater too, choose now!  Take control and make small changes to lead a happier and healthier life!

Thanks for enduring my emotional release today!  Another goal is to get some good content on here… I know it’s been awful lately, my apologies!
