The last little bit of 2012!

I’m tempted to write about my New Year’s Resolutions, but I’m going to save those for tomorrow.  2012 was a crazy and great year.  We have only part of a day left to celebrate it and then we bring in the new year, 2013.  I have a lot of high hopes for 2013 and I’ll express those, like I said, tomorrow.
2012: My life changed so much!  The biggest thing I can say about 2012 is DISNEY.  I moved to Disney World and did the College Program from Jan-Aug.  I met the most AMAZING people who I still call my roommates to this day, even though they live like forever away now!  I had good work friends too.  I’ve mentioned before that I hated working at Disney and now that I’ve left, I miss it more than anything! I wish I had taken more time to enjoy what was in front of me.  I had never been to Disney World and so I also got to experience everything for the first time!  My favorite by far was the Festival of the Lion King show at Animal Kingdom and the Mount Everest ride! I then moved back to Starkville and I was happy to do so because then I could be with Nick, which was really tough while I was at Disney.  I got a job that is making a difference in a lot of lives and it’s a blessing.  It’s not the funnest or the easiest at times, but I’m thankful for it.  A lot of World Events happened this year too…. things that break my heart to this day!  The movie theater shooting in Colorado, the Hurricane along the East Coast, and the Elementary School shooting at Sandy Hook.  2012 will be a year remembered FOREVER!
Although, I pray we don’t have to endure the pain we have had to face this past year, I also pray that we get another year of successes in life, and pleasure, and fun, family, and friends… I pray that 2013 has more good than bad, has more love than hate.  I pray for a blessing over the year 2013.  I know 13 is the “unlucky” number, but I’m praying that it becomes lucky and that we all are truly blessed.  My goal is to find something good and pure in each day, a blessing in disguise or a blessing right in front of me.
I want to wish all of you, a Happy New Year!  And my prayer for you dear friends, is that you are blessed each and every day for 2013 and that no matter what happens to this country, we all stick together and grow even more united.  We’re ringing out 2012 and welcoming in 2013 tonight, let’s make 2013 wonderful!

A rambling of my week at home!

I really did intend to post something earlier in the week, but when I’m home it’s always so hard to sit down and take the time to do it.  I’m hoping I’m not the only one though since most of us our outside of our usual routine anyways.  This week has been wonderful!  I got a lot of really great useful things for Christmas, I’ll be putting that post up soon!  I spent a lot of time by a fire, it was heavenly!  Usually with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate.  I stuck with my training schedule this week except for 1 day, I missed a short 2 mile run.  Overall I did 12 miles this week.  I’m training for the New Orleans Rock n’ Roll Half-Marathon.  I got tangled for Christmas and had never seen (I know, AWFUL, right?) and so I watched it THREE times this week.  It’s so good, y’all!  Yesterday was Christmas with the boyfriends family.  It was a perfect evening.  I got a $25 Amazon gift card, score!  Then we had our Christmas meal and then let the food settle.  Everyone went off and did their own thing the rest of the evening, but Nick and I went for a 5 mile run, then we went back to his house and he kept the fire going, I made some hot chocolate for us and we watched parks and rec.  It was so relaxing!
*My night in a nutshell*
This week, I got a lot of baking equipment for Christmas, so I’ve been baking away!  I have 2 more things I want to make while I’m still home, but I made some blueberry tarts and coconut cherry cupcakes already!
On Christmas Day, we went and saw Les Mes, which was wonderful!  I didn’t like it at first, but I started to love it by the end.  It was a great story!
This week, I also found the wonderfulness of Once Upon a Time.  I finished watching Season 1 on Netflix and I’m working on Season 2 on abc.com.  It’s so great!!
I also adopted a soldier, which you should do too!!  I think it’s such a great opportunity!  I’m looking forward to getting to know her!
And lastly, I started work on 26 acts of kindness in memory of the precious lives lost on December 14th.  I’ll have a whole blog post on it once I’m done, but I’m still working out what all I’ll be doing and creating the things for it.  I started my first act of kindness by adopting the soldier.  I got the idea off of pinterest obviously, but I hate that after an event like that people assume there is no good in the world.  What happened was terrible, but those people were good and they were precious, and we should honor them for that.  So I’m delighted to bring happiness to others through my acts of kindness in memory of them.  I know a lot of people are doing things like this, and I’m so excited about that!! Good can overcome evil, I strongly believe it!
Hope you all are having as great of a week as I am!  It’s been very relaxing… I’m not looking forward to heading back to Starkville and getting back to the office, this has just been a wonderful holiday!
And sorry, but all of my pictures lately have been from instagram because I’m kind of lazy right now and I’m not taking legit pics!

Merry Christmas Eve!

Good Morning loves!  I tend to go MIA when I head home for the holidays I’ve realized.  I don’t plan on it, it just kind of happens.  Spending time with family and friends back home just doesn’t leave much time for the blog and I’m kind of out of my normal schedule so I don’t think about it as much.
I’ve been having a wonderful time at home!  I just love the holidays, don’t you!?  Right before I left Starkville, a sweet friend gave me this Christmas Card which was hand made and perfect for me!
Friday night was spent having Christmas with Nick’s dad and family.  Everyone got some really great gifts! Nick got some new disc golf discs which was perfect because just this past week we lost 2 of them in the lake at our disc golf course and then he also got 2 movies – The dictator and The Campaign!  One of his sisters got some of that crackle fingernail polish (I had never used it), but I had some holiday nails going on with red nails and one accent silver nail, so her crackle polish was silver and we decided to try it on my red nails.  Kathryn and I had some fun with that.  That’s one of those headscratchers in her hair.
Saturday I went with a sweet friend to try on wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses.  First one out of the gate, she found the perfect wedding dress!! It was so great!  She looked stunning and beautiful and I’m so excited to be a part of her day!  I also found my bridesmaid dress.  She is doing same fabric and color, but different styles so I found one that I liked, which was NOT strapless because that’s basically the only type of bridesmaids dress I own (I’ve been in 5 weddings so far!)
That afternoon I went and saw This is 40 which was definitely NOT as good as I would have hoped.  Then we spent some time with precious friends for dinner.  Matt was making this avacodo salsa and was chopping up all the ingredients to go into a blender… it took him a little while to realize that the things didn’t need chopped because they were about to be blended.  It was pretty funny!  You can see all the tiny little pieces of cilantro chopped up down there on the bottom haha.
Yesterday wasn’t too eventful, I got some raking done, which I LOVE…  I know, I’m really wierd for it, but it’s just a lot of fun to me and it’s excercise that you see instant improvement from because your yard looks so good!  My sisters hate me for it though because I always drag them out and my dad is always on my side, so they get forced against their will to join in all the fun!
So that has been my weekend in a nutshell and today I plan on doing MORE raking and going to the Christmas Eve service and then tonight my family will open one present and have dinner together.  It’s always a tradition and I love it!! Then tomorrow we will wake up early, have some delicious breakfast, start a fire, have some hot chocolate and open all of our gifts! I’m so excited for everyone to see what I got them!
I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas!  I’m going to try to get on the blog tomorrow and post something too.  I need to work on being more present when I’m not actually at my own home.
Will you be going to a Christmas Eve service tonight?
What traditions do you have for Christmas Eve or Christmas Morning?
Have you finished all your Christmas shopping yet or will you be one of those people out today?
