TGIF!

Photobucket

Dear Friday, I’m thanking the Lord you are here right now because that means I completed my full week of PT and my do I need a rest!  Dear NOLA, get ready for a group of fabulous ladies taking you over this weekend for a bachellorete party!  Dear feet, I hope you can handle heels walking through the streets, but don’t worry, I brought flats just in case.  Dear bloggers, if you haven’t signed up for Bloggers Helping Bloggers, be sure to do that by the 27th!  I’m getting really excited about it and I hope we see some answered prayers through it and we see friendships blossom!  Dear self, you’re kind of being a rock star right now… I know, I know, I shouldn’t toot my own horn, but y’all I survived this harsh week of working out and I’m feeling great!  On top of that, I had a vigorous water volley ball game last night and got a serious back workout!  I’ve never pushed myself this hard or thought I could be this active or sweat this much, so I’m kind of impressed with myself… ok, selfish rant – O.V.E.R.  Dear Colorado friends, please stay safe as you battle those terrible forest fires!  I’m praying for y’all!

And in case you missed this tweet yesterday….

This happened….

And now my hair is light and airy so I can kick even more butt on my workouts and my sweaty nappy gross hair won’t be swinging around my neck annoying the crap out of me!  Oh the things we do for beauty a good workout!  I can assure you this decision was like 95% based on that fact alone, although I’m pleased with the result and definitely think it looks better also!
Here’s to annoying free workouts in the morning!

#pathetic, that’s me!

Am I the only one that feels weird not writing an “It’s OK” post anymore?

Hello folks!  So as I’m typing this my arms are INSANELY sore!  Every summer at Mississippi State, my office hosts a camp called LeaderSTATE camp where 60 JROTC students come during each week of June and learn leadership skills, complete a STEM activity and do PT every morning.  A few years back I was a counselor for the camp and then the next year I actually coordinated the first year that we teamed up with the Army and so leaderSTATE holds a special place in my heart!  Since I work in this office again and have been since August, I’m lucky enough to be here this summer to participate in some of the LeaderSTATE activities and my absolute favorite one is PT!  So I’ve been at PT last week and this week and y’all I’m hurting!  It consists of an hour of yoga on Tuesday nights, and 3 mornings (5:05AM!) of full activity with a 1.3 mile run to the gym, a 30 minute plyometrics workout, and 1.3 mile run back.

Maybe you saw this tweet….
True Story.  That was my life at work yesterday.
I really shouldn’t complain though because I’m thankful that I have the ability to participate in vigorous physical activity and build a better me and I know I’m sore because I worked my tail off and I’ll benefit from it in the end – but that does make me a little slower throughout the day because it hurts.  No pain, No gain?  Is that really the case? I haven’t decided yet!
I’m hoping by the end of the month I’ll see huge improvements!
Wish me luck as I make my way out for another 5:05AM workout.
FYI… I started this post intending to update y’all on my 101 in 1001, how in the world I ended up with this, I’m not sure?  Guess y’all can wait for the 101 in 1001 until next time.

Have you signed up for the Bloggers Helping Bloggers opportunity I posted about this week!? I have 16 people signed up so far and I’m super excited about it!  I love the fact that it’s focused on praying for each other and sharing encouragement with each other and buying gifts is optional, and if you choose to buy a gift, there isn’t a price you have to commit too.  [Being honest… I came up with that particular idea because my piggy bank is hurting over some of the boxes I’ve participated with (don’t get me wrong, I love them and they’re great!), once you buy stuff and mail, it’s about $30 and this VISTA makes pennies… like less than minimum wage for 40hours a week] So I hope this helps others too who aren’t ready to spend that much money or just need a month or two break from the bigger box exchanges, but still want to meet a new blogger and receive and give encouragement!
Sign Up Here!

Have a wonderful Thursday sweet friends!

This month I’m talking about family friendly activities in Jackson, MS!
A few weeks ago I had some family come into town.  My Uncle and his wife along with their 3 kids.  We wanted to share some great family friendly experiences with them while they were in town!  We had originally planned on going to the Jackson Zoo, but the chance of rain made that a little difficult, so we decided on the next best thing – The Mississippi Museum of Natural Science!  The museum has some really great animals within it along with skeletal replicas and stuffed animals on display.  They have videos and shows going on throughout the day and they have multiple trails that you can walk for leisure!  It’s a great place for kids that encourages learning and activeness, but also keeps things interesting for adults!

At the beginning of this maze, you spin the wheel and whatever animal it lands on, you have to search through the maze for that animal.
We were there right as the scuba diver went in to feed the fish.  It was so neat!  You always feed the stingray first because even though he wouldn’t intentionally harm you, he will sting you if he’s hungry and you’re not feeding him.
Yes, please take a look at this TWO-HEADED SNAKE!!!
Do you see the CLAWS on this thing!? Oh my geez…
There are all kinds of skeletal displays

Please tell me you’ve heard the story of the teddy bear?!  If not, READ NOW!
About to play Leap Frog!
Loving this action shot!  Just Kids at Heart!
