I’ve been in St. Louis this week for a work conference and it has been AMAZING! I’ll recap that later this week though and I have had some amazing options as a vegetarian here. I made sure to take good pictures of my food because it was absolutely perfect! The sessions have been super informative and I look forward to taking a lot of new information back to work. I’ve gotten some good workouts in too while I’ve been here. My legs are SORE!
I scored this beautiful picture while in town. I’ll share some others later.
One session that really resonated with me was the last session in the day that talked about Finding Balance. She made a few great points that I wanted to share because I’m sure someone else will benefit from this too.
First of all, we’re not actually looking for balance in this life. When you think of balance, you think of the tipping scale, don’t you?
Well life isn’t really about balancing, it’s about finding HARMONY between work, life, and the millions of other things on your to-do list. You will not always be able to fit everything into your work and life harmony. You will have to say NO sometimes. It’s okay! I’m a YES person usually, but there are times I need to say NO in order to take care of myself or make harmony in other areas of my life.
Also, think about your attitude. Our speaker said that every day she wakes up and says out loud, “I’m going to have a great day!” Keeping that positive energy and attitude will flow into the rest of your day.
Do you ever think about the fact that YOU DECIDE? You make all the decisions in your life. If your boss asks you to stay late and you say YES when maybe you should have said NO, you have no reason to be frustrated with your boss, YOU DECIDED to say YES! That’s on you. We decide everything- which is beautiful about life! I make the decisions that determine how I live my life. I choose what I do and how I respond. If I allow something to get in the way of my “me time” then that’s my fault. Of course, there will be circumstances out of our control, but I would guess that 99% of the time, you actually have the power to make the decision yourself.
That’s just the beginning of this particular session – it was so liberating! I love my job, but I have a feeling I’m going to love it more when I return and begin implementing new changes within our office that will create better efficiency and communication!
I’m looking forward to what I’ll learn today and recapping the entire trip later this week! Happy Hump Day!
