Un-planned “Snow Day” & TMI galore!

Technically, I ended up with a “Snow Day” today.  It wasn’t meant to be that way, but that’s exactly how it worked out.  Also, this post may be a little too much personal information for you – fair warning.

Yesterday, I wasn’t feeling my best… I thought it had something to do with the ever changing Mississippi weather, but when I finally got home last night, I quickly realized exactly what was going on.  A UTI.  You see, I get these pretty frequently.  I know exactly what they are when they happen, I know the exact prescription I need, and in my opinion, I shouldn’t have to pay a doctor for that information.  They really need an OTC med for this thing!

I was getting ready for work and just knew that I was going to have to go to the doctor today.  I text my boss and told him I wasn’t feeling well, I knew what was wrong, I wasn’t contagious, but I needed some antibiotics and that I would be at work today, I just wouldn’t be feeling my best.  With the snow-pocolypse of the South {don’t judge us, mmkay!?}, he told me to just get to the doctor first thing and not to worry about coming in unless he ends up needing me.  So here I am…. with an unplanned off-day.  It’s ok though, I had tons of blog work to do.

Now, before you tell me all the ways to prevent a UTI, I can assure that I know them.
Yesterday, I wore these work pants that are little snug in my nether regions… I will refuse to wear those again until I lose a few pounds in the tush.
I drink a lot of caffeine – I love my coffee.  Instead of just coffee though, I happened upon a few diet soda’s this past weekend….  I seriously need to take a lesson from myself because this is my rant on soda:
There have been times in the past when I would drink a single sip of a diet coke and immediately feel a UTI coming… you think I’m crazy?  I’m not kidding.  Soda’s are so unbelievably bad for us, yet we still drink them.  I still drink them.  Every time I get a UTI, I make the correlation that I’ve recently had a soda.  I don’t drink soda’s very often, if I do, I try to drink Sprite, but it never fails that I have an ugly UTI waiting for me around the corner after I sip on a soda.  BAM.  I need to learn my own lesson.
I definitely don’t drink enough water.  I’m trying to get better with that at work, I have a good drinking system, I just need to increase the amount that I drink.

When I started getting UTI’s frequently, I started taking Cranberry pills.  They are a amazing!  I can pop a few of those and it goes away.  Sometimes though, sometimes… I don’t catch it in time and I end up in unbelievable pain, heading to the doctor for some legit drugs.  There was a time when I would take a cranberry pill every single day to keep UTI’s away, I’m thinking I need to go back to that.

This was after just 50 minutes inside the doctors office.

The other frustrating thing though… I’m allergic to pretty much all the heavy drugs, so I get stuck with Cypro which takes a few days to kick in.  Luckily I don’t break out in hives by day 4 though and it still kicks the infection to the curb, so I guess I can’t complain.

And my last frustrating thing…. I just started this new job.  My health insurance doesn’t go into effect for 90 days, so this idiotic UTI sucked a whopping $130 from my bank account.  Talk about feeling broke – especially when I told them exactly what was wrong and exactly what I needed.  I practically did their job for them!

Ladies, I’ve never been pregnant and I’m 99.9% sure pregnancy is worse, but I would like to bet that on the list of female crap that we deal with – a UTI/Bladder Infection ranks #2, even above our regular monthly friend.  If you’ve never had a UTI, feel blessed.  When I get a UTI, I can’t think of anything else, I can’t imagine another ounce of pain, I just hate it…. hate it so much.

Delicious! Arbonne Tea and Fizz Stick mixed together – perfect on this chilly day!

So here’s to being healthier by losing some weight so my pants aren’t so tight, by drinking more water, and by steering clear of the soda crap!

I seriously just shed a tear for you. UTIs are the WORST!!! I had one in September that was so bad I was passing blood. It was awful. And it wasn’t even a “oh, this will go away soon” but actually just get worse type of thing. No, it was a “oh, that burns. HOLY CRAP IS THAT BLOOD??” type of thing. I went to the doctor in so much pain and then laid on my couch on my stomach the rest of the day because that was the only way I didn’t hurt. MISERABLE!!!
