Last post before I take off to Orlando!

Today has been bitter sweet, my trip is finally here and I’m overwhelmed with excitement, but the reality is finally hitting home and I’m going to miss so many people while I’m away!

The Children…
The first part of the day wasn’t the greatest, but it was still nice to spend the time with my Mom and sister.  I helped my mom at church with a children’s thing, and honestly… I’m not the best person for the job, I was happy to help, of course, but a rowdy group of kids is just not my thing!  Luckily, I wrangled my sis in to help, so I got to spend the morning with them!  Here’s some picture fun me and the sister had during some down time… hehe enjoy!

The boyfriend+boyfriend’s brother+boyfriend’s sister-in-law…
I then got picked up from that to go spend some time with N, T, and K!  We stopped by Corner Bakery so the boyfriend could get some yummy food (I got a MONSTER cookie aka… m&m and chocolate chip cookie!) then we went over to his brother’s house to spend time with them and we played the BEST game ever… seriously…. LOVE IT!  We got introduced to it over Christmas and it’s my new all time fav!  Mexican Train… Wait for it… Wait for it… DOMINOS!  Yes, awesome!! Snapped some pics with them!

Playing Dominos!  Seriously, super fun!

AK and UJ…
We then headed over to my Aunt Karen’s and Uncle John’s for dinner.  I make delicious Dorito and Chicken Casserole that my sister is obsessed with, so I promised her that dinner before I left.  It was a huge hit at my Aunt and Uncles!  I’m going to miss them too, especially since they JUST moved down to Mississippi this past year and now I’m leaving!

The Cousins and AK and UJ

This has been such a fantastic weekend to end out my life in Brandon!  Again, it was bitter sweet… I’m excited about my new adventure starting tomorrow (at 5am!) but really sad to say good-bye to so many people I love and cherish!  Thank goodness for Skype and cell phones and FB and e-mail and wow… so many things to help us stay in touch!

Next time I blog, I’ll be in Sunny Orlando, FL enjoying myself at Disney World!

I didn’t plan this out well….

PACKING!

A few months back I purchased my plane tickets to go live in Orlando for about 7 months… there were a few things I didn’t quite think through.
Now, I’m a planner, I love planning, but unfortunately, I seriously failed this planning mission!
I didn’t think about needing items to live on for seven months and only having TWO checked bags to fly with that can’t weigh over 50 pounds.  Needless to say, I’ve been crossing things off my packing list one by one that I’m going to have to wait on.  Fortunately, Nick is coming in March for Spring Break, so he will be bringing what I cannot take, but for the first month or two, I’ll be living off a minimal amount of stuff (which, honestly, I shouldn’t complain about, right? Because it’s probably a lot more than most people get to live off their entire life.  I should probably shut up with the complaining!)  So I’ve been working REALLY hard the past 2-3 days to get packed up for my flight out on Tuesday morning!

My bed covered with everything I WANT to take!
My two checked bags I plan on taking and a bin full of other things I WANT to take!
My room at the parentals was a MESS for a while…. Nick came over last night and knocked some sense in me and basically TOLD encouraged me to pack lighter and we went one by one and narrowed down what I needed to bring.
Or shall I say, HE narrowed down what I needed to bring, and I begrudgingly obliged… 🙁

First Checked bag, packed!
Second Checked bag, packed with room to spare
First Carry On packed minus laptop (that I’m using right now, obviously!)
Second Carry on, my purse!
And then… there is the stuff that I have to leave behind… which will be joining me in March!

I do still have to actually weigh the bags, and believe me if I have some wiggle room, I’ll throw in an item or two I was going to leave behind, but this was a lot more stressful that I expected!

What are some plans you made that you seriously didn’t think through all the way and wanted to kick yourself in the rear after making the decision?

I should have chosen to drive…

Last day in Starkville!

So, I was thinking about what to write today, I considered joining in on some link-ups or not writing anything at all, until I realized that this was my LAST day to live in Starkville.  Yeah, I’m not the biggest fan of Starkville, I mean, I love my school and I love my friends here, but the roads are tiny and everything is squished together and the buildings are about an inch apart, so all in all, I’m looking forward to a new city with a new look.  But I thought I would spend the day talking about the things I’m going to miss in Starkville and how, even though I’m pretty excited to get out of here, I’m still going to miss it in a lot of ways!
(I’m sure you know the feeling!)
{1}ONE: My apartment
I love my apartment, It’s just me and the little sister, it’s quiet, it’s quaint, and I love it!  I love having my own room, my own kitchen, my own living room, etc.   I’m going to miss having a place to come home too when I need to get away from the craziness of the world.  I’m mostly going to miss having my sister as a roommate… YES, she can be difficult to live with (as can I), but she’s easy to talk to, she’s my sister, so I love her no matter what and she loves me no matter what, and we grew up doing things the same way.

{2}TWO: My friends I’m leaving behind
I’ll use initials for anonymity
T.B.- N.U.- H.H.- R.W.- M.W.- W.H.- J.M.-J.G- F.O.- and well, there are others
I’m getting to the point where I don’t really have a lot of close close friends left in my college town, honestly, I didn’t have a lot to begin with because people went their separate ways after high school.  I have made some dear dear friends while being at State and I’m going to miss them super much!  I had a going away dinner at BWW Wednesday night and when it was over, and I was driving home with my boyfriend and sister… I said, “That was perfect!  That was everyone that I really do cherish at the same table from Starkville”  I didn’t feel like any of them were fake, they were all true friends of mine and I felt so blessed at that moment knowing that! H.H. didn’t get to make it unfortunately, so that was one friend that I missed seeing!

{3}THREE: Stromboli’s
Stromboli’s is the most amazing pizza place!  It’s unique to Starkville and it has a lot of character!  It’s a booming place most of the time, with very limited seating because of the character built into the walls.  They don’t expand (and the only reason I can think not too is because of the atmosphere it has!)  I’m going to miss eating there, it’s delicious and they have the BEST stromboli I’ve ever tasted!

{4}FOUR: Campus
I’m going to miss MSU’s campus, it’s beautiful, especially when the seasons are changing… I’m not sure if Orlando will have that same feel to me, but I sure do hope it does, because if not, I’m going to miss that so much!!  It feels like home when I’m walking around campus, it’s beautiful and inviting!

{5}FIVE: Cheap Rent
I know eventually, I’m seriously going to miss the cheap rent!  Living in a college town provides college living which provides cheap living expenses!  My 2 bedroom apartment is only $550 a month and it’s a really good size apartment!  I know when I get a “big kid” job, I’m going to miss this super affordable living!

{6}SIX: Being close, but far from home
I love my family and I love visiting back home, but it’s a pro and con.  In Starkville, I’m two hours away, it’s close enough to visit on the weekend, but far enough to not have to come home ALL THE TIME! I love seeing my family and spending time with them, but at the same time, I enjoy the independence living far enough away brings… I’m not sure how I’m going to handle the 11 hour distance.  I may not make it home at all over the next 7 months and that’s going to be rough!

{7}SEVEN: Walking
I’m going to miss the convenience of walking from place to place.  I lived close enough to campus and downtown in Starkville that I could walk to school if NEEDED or WANTED, I could walk to Papa Johns for late night pizza (seriously… one minute away!), I could walk to the bars if I was going out with friends, I could walk to friends apartments if they lived close enough, I really could walk just about anywhere and get everything I needed to live!  I’ll miss that a lot!

{8}EIGHT: A fantastic running partner
Over the past few months, I found the best running partner, Caroline!  She’s the track coach at Starkville High, we worked summer camp together this past year and I love her so so much!! I hate that we just realized we ran together so well because I only had a few short months with her!! This may be one of the things I miss the MOST, because I had someone to keep me accountable, who pushed me, but also let me slow down when I needed too.  Caroline, if you ever read this, just know that I cherish what we had dearly, you were one of the most inspiring people to me here in Starkville and I’m so sad to not have you as a running buddy anymore!

I know there are probably many other things I’ll miss about living in Starkville, MS, but I do know that I’m super excited to be embarking on this new journey soon!  I have a lot to look forward too and I lot to be thankful for!  I’ll be back to visit, but I never plan on living here again!  In FOUR days, I’ll be off to Orlando!

Happy Friday bloggy friends! 🙂
