So, I was thinking about what to write today, I considered joining in on some link-ups or not writing anything at all, until I realized that this was my LAST day to live in Starkville. Yeah, I’m not the biggest fan of Starkville, I mean, I love my school and I love my friends here, but the roads are tiny and everything is squished together and the buildings are about an inch apart, so all in all, I’m looking forward to a new city with a new look. But I thought I would spend the day talking about the things I’m going to miss in Starkville and how, even though I’m pretty excited to get out of here, I’m still going to miss it in a lot of ways!
(I’m sure you know the feeling!)
{1}ONE: My apartment
I love my apartment, It’s just me and the little sister, it’s quiet, it’s quaint, and I love it! I love having my own room, my own kitchen, my own living room, etc. I’m going to miss having a place to come home too when I need to get away from the craziness of the world. I’m mostly going to miss having my sister as a roommate… YES, she can be difficult to live with (as can I), but she’s easy to talk to, she’s my sister, so I love her no matter what and she loves me no matter what, and we grew up doing things the same way.
{2}TWO: My friends I’m leaving behind
I’ll use initials for anonymity
T.B.- N.U.- H.H.- R.W.- M.W.- W.H.- J.M.-J.G- F.O.- and well, there are others
I’m getting to the point where I don’t really have a lot of close close friends left in my college town, honestly, I didn’t have a lot to begin with because people went their separate ways after high school. I have made some dear dear friends while being at State and I’m going to miss them super much! I had a going away dinner at BWW Wednesday night and when it was over, and I was driving home with my boyfriend and sister… I said, “That was perfect! That was everyone that I really do cherish at the same table from Starkville” I didn’t feel like any of them were fake, they were all true friends of mine and I felt so blessed at that moment knowing that! H.H. didn’t get to make it unfortunately, so that was one friend that I missed seeing!
{3}THREE: Stromboli’s
Stromboli’s is the most amazing pizza place! It’s unique to Starkville and it has a lot of character! It’s a booming place most of the time, with very limited seating because of the character built into the walls. They don’t expand (and the only reason I can think not too is because of the atmosphere it has!) I’m going to miss eating there, it’s delicious and they have the BEST stromboli I’ve ever tasted!
{4}FOUR: Campus
I’m going to miss MSU’s campus, it’s beautiful, especially when the seasons are changing… I’m not sure if Orlando will have that same feel to me, but I sure do hope it does, because if not, I’m going to miss that so much!! It feels like home when I’m walking around campus, it’s beautiful and inviting!
{5}FIVE: Cheap Rent
I know eventually, I’m seriously going to miss the cheap rent! Living in a college town provides college living which provides cheap living expenses! My 2 bedroom apartment is only $550 a month and it’s a really good size apartment! I know when I get a “big kid” job, I’m going to miss this super affordable living!
{6}SIX: Being close, but far from home
I love my family and I love visiting back home, but it’s a pro and con. In Starkville, I’m two hours away, it’s close enough to visit on the weekend, but far enough to not have to come home ALL THE TIME! I love seeing my family and spending time with them, but at the same time, I enjoy the independence living far enough away brings… I’m not sure how I’m going to handle the 11 hour distance. I may not make it home at all over the next 7 months and that’s going to be rough!
{7}SEVEN: Walking
I’m going to miss the convenience of walking from place to place. I lived close enough to campus and downtown in Starkville that I could walk to school if NEEDED or WANTED, I could walk to Papa Johns for late night pizza (seriously… one minute away!), I could walk to the bars if I was going out with friends, I could walk to friends apartments if they lived close enough, I really could walk just about anywhere and get everything I needed to live! I’ll miss that a lot!
{8}EIGHT: A fantastic running partner
Over the past few months, I found the best running partner, Caroline! She’s the track coach at Starkville High, we worked summer camp together this past year and I love her so so much!! I hate that we just realized we ran together so well because I only had a few short months with her!! This may be one of the things I miss the MOST, because I had someone to keep me accountable, who pushed me, but also let me slow down when I needed too. Caroline, if you ever read this, just know that I cherish what we had dearly, you were one of the most inspiring people to me here in Starkville and I’m so sad to not have you as a running buddy anymore!
I know there are probably many other things I’ll miss about living in Starkville, MS, but I do know that I’m super excited to be embarking on this new journey soon! I have a lot to look forward too and I lot to be thankful for! I’ll be back to visit, but I never plan on living here again! In FOUR days, I’ll be off to Orlando!
Happy Friday bloggy friends! 🙂
Safe Travels 🙂
