4 Beautiful Acts of Random

{1} A compliment goes a long way
Today I went back to the aquatic YMCA i discussed  in this post here.  I was going to join a water fitness class which turned out to not be quite what I expected.  Let’s just say it’s for a more older generation who can’t quite exercise safely any other way, so I nixed that quickly!  I did want to practice my swimming though.  You may remember that last summer (possibly even the summer before!) I started taking some swim lessons from Nick’s mom.  She is fabulous, has been teaching swimming for over 20 years!  I never learned any technique (I can only do enough to keep myself from drowning) so I asked her to help me out!  I haven’t practiced my technique in a really long time though, but I decided to swim a few laps for some practice to see how it felt.  After lap 2, I paused for a break next to a man I spoken with earlier inside the gym and he gave me the GREATEST compliment I think I’ll hear all summer – “You’re a great swimmer!!”  OH MY GOSH! I about had a heart attack because I would never consider myself a great swimmer, but that compliment right there pushed me over the edge and I will now be signing up for my membership for May, June, and July just so I have a place to practice my swimming now!
Me practicing last summer!  So fun!
{2} Magic Kingdom day
I have been picking up some overtime shifts in Magic Kingdom lately and obviously people ask you where things are constantly and honestly, since I’m not familiar with it, I HAVE NO CLUE! So I thought today would be a great time to familiarize myself with Magic Kingdom a little better, so I’ll be heading there shortly!
{3} Watermelon
I mentioned in recent post that I LOVE watermelon and our Publix down the road has quarter size watermelon they sell.  Every chance I get, I run to Publix and find me the cheapest quarter I can get and I eat it all in one setting.  It’s the most delightful thing to put in your mouth this time of year!

{4} Burn Notice
I’ve been watching so much Burn Notice lately, I’m LOVING it!! Nick and I got into a while back, but I missed a lot of the episodes when I got sick one time and never really caught back up, so we both decided to re-watch all the seasons and it has been wonderful!! I’ve enjoyed the relaxing time I have to just sit and watch.  I’m considering making a trip to Miami for the day one of these days and scouting out film scenes and with my fingers crossed, running into an actual film shoot and stalking for some pictures!  Just FYI!
I wanna see if Miami is as beautiful in person as it is on screen!

Under the weather

I’ve been somewhat sick lately.  Wednesday I worked 7-3:30, then picked up a shift in Magic Kingdom for some overtime from 7-10:45, then woke up Thursday and worked 8-4:30 so I was exhausted by the time I got home Thursday night.  I think that took a little toll on my immune system and I’ve been under the weather ever since.  It’s the usual though, a sinus cold – sore throat, coughing, sneezing, stuffy nose, head pressure – I’m finally starting to get over it thank goodness because I picked up another extra over time shift tomorrow night, so tomorrow will be exhausting as well.   I’m still doing great on my no coffee / no sodas.  There has been plenty of temptation though, especially with the cold going on, I surely do enjoy a nice steaming hot cup of coffee (it’s a comfort, I must admit!) but I’ve been doing really good.  Tonight I’m trying to catch up on sleep (which I’ve already done a little bit of), watch some burn notice (which I may choose to take a day trip to Miami one of these days and try to find where they shoot some scenes – do some stalking of the sorts), clean up my room some, make some of these delicious blueberry corn muffins that are super healthy and keep you full and satisfied (I may post the recipe later, though I have to give credit to Fitness Magazine, of course, but ever since I made them, I’ve loved them!), and do some planning for the week.  Hope everyone is enjoying their beautiful Sunday (at least it’s beautiful here in Orlando!).

So Where were we?

Well… let’s see… we have a lot of catching up to do on the blog!

Today, I checked out a local YMCA.  It’s an aquatic Y, which is interesting, but they have a diving board (which you like never see anymore!), tons of fitness water classes you can take, and geez… just a lot of water stuff, but they also have great workout equipment and regular fitness classes too.  Unfortunately, I thought that being a Y member, meant nationally – IT DOESN’T! – so I signed up for a 14 day trial and then I may choose to be a member for like three months because I really think it will help keep me active because our tiny little gym SUCKS here and if I have a place to go, I’d be more inclined to actually roll out of the bed.

Inside of the Y pool

I also went grocery shopping finally (I’ve been a grocery hiatus because of how often I went back and forth over staying in Orlando or not), I was going to buy coffee until I realized that I’ve actually been doing alright without it and I still have coffee and soda on my 101 in 1001 list, SO… I decided now would be the perfect time!!  Today starts my no 30 days of coffee and soda… Am I crazy for trying to both at the same time?? Probably, but I’m sure I can make it!  I’ll keep you updated, of course!

Probably me without soda and coffee for 30 days, we’ll see!

I had a really great weekend with some fabulous old and new friends.  Nick has found a lot of new friends since I’ve been gone and they are all AMAZING!  We had a blast and hopefully some of them will be coming in May for Star Wars Weekend at Disney World.  In case you didn’t know, I only have about 3 and a half more months of Disney then I’m back home searching for a job.  I’m determined to now make the best of it, so I’m in a great mood now, YAY!

I also just found out that I can now be trained in Merchandise which is going to open up so many extra shifts for me to pick up which will be great…1. because I’ll be around more guests which will make the job so much more fun… 2. I can make a lot of extra money through overtime this way which is fab!… 3. Hopefully I can save up some money for some things I’m needing wanting right now (kindle, Newton running shoes, tablet, trips to Miami, Gainesville, and Savannah)  So I’ll be working on that while I don’t have people in town.

Hope everyone else is doing well, I must admit, I haven’t been keeping up lately with my blog reads and my blogging all together, but it’s getting better slowly!  Have a fabulous rest of the week!!
