Yesterday was my day off. I had every intention of writing a blog post. We always have good intentions though, don’t we? Anyways, you move on. I’m writing a post now before I head off to work for the day.
~ Are you looking for another way to give back this holiday season? Do you participate in RACK and are looking for a random act of kindness to do for the day? I’m still raising money for diabetes education and research for my 50 mile bike ride. I need to raise at least $200 to ride. You can donate here:
~ I went apartment hunting yesterday. I don’t have my job yet or the income to afford it, but I’m hopeful that I will soon. It was a great price and I really liked the layout. The location could NOT be more perfect. I have no doubt that this will be my home if I end up in Jackson, MS. They have a discount for my favorite local gym too, I can walk across the street to a beautiful running track, and I’m two steps away from the most popular shopping and dining area.
~ I’m contemplating whether or not I should make a video resume. Do y’all have any thoughts? I haven’t seen a lot of them yet, so I think it may be a way to differentiate myself. I am getting into video, so it’d also be a way to experiment. I’ve seen some great ones and I’ve seen some awful ones – hopefully mine would be great. Have you seen them before? Do you hire people? If so, would you consider watching a video resume? Also, do you think if I make a really awesome video resume…. Ellen may contact me to be on her show? I kind of think that would be the bomb.com.
~ I worked on my Kitchen Mix Up video yesterday, but it went rather lamely and horribly, so I may attempt again this weekend. I need to be more creative.
~ I’m in the middle of watching the Grey’s Anatomy episode where the hospital floods and there are leaks everywhere…. how terrible would that be? Really terrible….
~ My sweet friend Hillary wrote a post on the words we say to other bloggers. Do you strive to positive in blogging? Do you encourage and love on other bloggers? Or are you the poison and venom of this world? I have stopped following certain bloggers (big bloggers even) who I don’t respect anymore because of how they have talked to other bloggers and how they have approached things that other bloggers have done and the ideas that they have had. My point is this: think about what you say. If you don’t agree with something, keep it to yourself or privately speak to them through an e-mail. Don’t be hateful though. Be nice. Be kind. Be encouraging. Blogging is a wonderful thing – don’t poison it with hatred.
Have a wonderful Thursday!
I’ve never even heard of video resumes! That’s a new one to me! And I read Hillary’s post too and totally agree! Words are powerful–extremely powerful, therefore, we ought to use them for good!!
I have never seen a video resume, but I am sure you would make a great one! Also, thanks for sharing Hillary’s post! I loved it.
A video resume sounds really cool! I know nothing about hiring, but you know I love your vids! I can’t wait to see what you’re making for Kitchen Mix Up! Good luck continuing to fundraise!
I haven’t seen many video resumes but I have seen online resumes via a professional website. I thought about doing one for me but I don’t see many educators with them
I’m fairly certain that I’ve watched Grey’s Anatomy from start to finish like 3 times…I just finished and restarted it when I was off sick on Monday…I’m not sure it ever gets old. The MR. doesn’t understand it at all, but I’m not sure I’ll ever get tired of it! That and HIMYM—I think I could watch that over and over again too!
