A weekend to remember!

This weekend turned out to be wonderful! I went home for a wedding that Nick was the Best Man in and we had a blast!

That morning before I traveled home I joined in for my last day of PT with the ROTC students.

I managed to get a 9:09 mile.  I’ve been pretty pleased with my early morning runs.  I know they’re short, but my pace is getting pretty good and I’ve managed to get a few miles that are under a 10 min. mile.  I consider myself a really slow runner, so this excites me!

I was suppose to make it home in time for the Bridesmaid Brunch (even though I wasn’t a bridesmaid), but there was some confusion on the time and I wasn’t able to be there.  So I went home and spent some time with my family, got some coffee with my dad and then worked on applying for some more jobs and writing up some blog posts for the week.  I felt really productive in that hour!

Nick finally got off work and so I went and spent some time with him.  We hung out at his house until it was time to get ready for the rehearsal dinner.  We made it to the rehearsal just in time and they did their things, then we headed to McCain Lodge for the rehearsal dinner.  The food was amazing, but the best part was the bread pudding!! It was to die for!  Nick and I were able to squeeze in a good picture from the evening, but I’m sad that I didn’t take any others!

Right before everyone was going to leave, the sky opened up and it just poured… the lights flickered and I thought I’d never seen so much rain!  We waited it out until it was to a light drizzle and made our way home.  When we got to my parents, Nick decided to hang out just a little bit and so we watched some Arrested Development.

Saturday morning I woke up and did some more blogging while I enjoyed my cup of coffee then I got ready to take care of the bride-to-be.  On my way to pick her up, she asked me to get an “I love you” card for her future hubby and so I picked out 2 so she could pick the best one.  I figured I could save the other one for Nick later.  I picked her up and took her to get her hair done.  While she was busy doing that, I went over to the groom’s parents house where I was invited to get some brunch.  I left the guys outside so they could enjoy their guy time (It was the groomsman brunch after all), but I enjoyed a cup of coffee, some fruit, a cinnamon roll, and some sausage.  I then took the groom’s sister with me and we went and picked up the bride and her mom and I dropped them back off at the hotel to get ready for pictures.  While they were all busy, I ran an errand to bed, bath, & beyond to pick up our wedding gift and then joined my parents for lunch at Newks.  I ran into the other groomsman’s wife at Newks (I met her the night before) and met a few of their other friends.  Nick and I absolutely adored the groomsman and his wife and we look forward to hanging out with them again soon!
I went home and got ready for wedding.  I got picked up by a limo and dropped off at the church so I could pass out wedding programs and have people sign the guest book.  After the wedding, we all crammed back into the limo and opened up a bottle of champaign to toast the newly wedded bride & groom!  The reception was amazing – there was great dancing, a candy bar, and an open bar!  We had a really grand time!

Sunday morning I headed back over to Nick’s and we decided to make some juice.  He got his juice all the way to the rim of this cup!

The juice was delicious!  Afterwards we thought we would go and hang up the hammock that he received as his groomsman gift, but right as we stepped outside it started to rain, so we decided not too, but that meant that we could then go and fix my blinker!  My blinker has been screwed up for a while now and it makes this annoying sound and doesn’t always work when you want it to.  Now I have a full functioning blinker!

It was the hazard button that we had to replace.  Then we decided to take a ride out to dogwood and get some food and look around for a bit before I headed back to Starkville.  We enjoyed the leisurely time together.

Later that evening, I got this picture from Nick

Looks like he was finally able to enjoy his hammock!

Have a great week, I’m looking forward to a 3 day work week! 🙂

Bloggers Helping Bloggers: Match-Up!

Welcome friends! I’m very excited to announce who your partners are going to be for the first month of Bloggers Helping Bloggers!!  This month we ended up with 24 fabulous participants and I’m excited to see what kind of relationships form.  I’m being completely honest when I say that your partners were selected completely at random.  I used random.org to generate the numbers and paired them in the order I was given.  I may not do it this way every time, but it seemed logical for the first month.  There are a few housekeeping things to discuss before I share who your partners are this month.

1 // Reminder of the Rules: You need to take time to get to know your partner, find out what they have going on this month, see if you can be praying for them about something.  A gift is not required to send to your partner, but you MUST send a hand-written card/letter at some point during the month.  You are welcome to go above and beyond though.
2 // In the sign up form, I asked for ‘Full Name’.  I realized that some people may not want that shared, so I went ahead and edited the form you are about to see to show last initials.  On future sign up’s I will ask for ‘Name’ and I will not make edits.  So if you put your full name, then realize that others will be able to see that.
3 // You may sign up for the August ‘Bloggers Helping Bloggers’ starting July 20th and you will again, have until the 27th.  I hope that by July 20th, you can decide if this was helpful for you and if you’d like to participate again.  My hope is that it was and that you do and that you’ll encourage others to join in as well!

4 // You will not be paired with the same blogger twice.
5 // If you’d like, you can grab the button on the right hand side bar to display on your blog.  It’s nothing fancy, I don’t claim to be good at that sorta stuff, but it helps spread the word!
6 // If you are unable to make contact with your partner within 48 hours, e-mail me at heatherblack79@gmail.com!
7 // If for any reason, you feel that your partner did not participate fully and was absent in the relationship, please let me know and explain why you feel that way!  I want this to be an encouraging and uplifting experience.

8 // If you have any other questions, feel free to e-mail me at any time!!

9 // This is whole new territory for me.  I’ve never organized something like this so there may be some kinks in the process.  If you have any suggestions or find an issue with the process at the moment, feel free to let me know.  You won’t hurt my feelings, you’ll help me make this better and I would really appreciate any feedback!

10 // Have fun and make a new friend!

Self-Discipline VS. Self-Control

Photobucket

Dear Friday, I gladly welcome you not only because you’re Friday, but because you’re also a day off this week!  Dear Kristen & Robby, I want to wish you congratulations as you get married this weekend.  I’m honored to play a small role in your special day!  Dear self-control, you need to get a handle on this eating thing…. FYI, just because you see it, doesn’t mean you need it.  Dear self-discipline, you’ve actually been kicking butt, despite your evil friend self-control.  You’ve been up every morning at 5am whether you want to or not to get in a workout, painful or not.  I’m pretty proud about that!  Dear Caroline, oh sweet Caroline, you’ve been the greatest fitness partner this month as we’ve tackled PT with a vengeance!  I will miss you dearly!  Dear Self Magazine, thank you for including Ellie Goulding’s Half-Marathon training plan because it looks absolutely perfect and seems to incorporate so much more than running and I’m so excited to start training for the Wine & Dine Half-Marathon in August!!  Dear new triathlon training plan, you quite possibly will be the death of me.  I don’t understand the crappy swim terms you use or how to de-code them.  You have me taking hellacious bike rides and runs that have to incorporate hills and such.  Am I just suppose to find the largest hill I can and go up and down it continuously?  Because I’m pretty sure I don’t have rolling hills sitting around me that are perfectly timed and placed to match the ridiculous requirements you have for bicycle training days!! Ugh… I know you’ll be good for me and we might possibly possess the most ridiculous love/hate relationship, but it wouldn’t be so bad if you weren’t so dang confusing!  Dear friends, get your Home Town Hop posts ready for Tuesday!! I’m excited about what I have to share! Are you?!
