Disney Wine & Dine: Animal Kingdom

In case you missed my past re-cap posts
Disney Wine & Dine: Friday
Satchels: Pre-Disney

On Saturday, Noelle and I decided to hit up Animal Kingdom!  Lacy was so burnt out and exhausted from our Friday night activities, that she decided to stay back in the hotel {bummer}.  I headed out of the hotel room with my oatmeal in hand.  It’s the quickest, fastest, healthiest way to get breakfast in, in my opinion!  When you’re at Disney, there is no time for something more extreme.  You want to be the first people there!

First, I wanted to return my shirt and get a smaller size, which didn’t work out, but we ended back at ESPN WWS first.  Figured out that I couldn’t return my shirt because they didn’t have any more sizes and then booked it on to Animal Kingdom!  Unfortunately, we didn’t pre-purchase our tickets, which was a terrible idea, because we waited in line for a little while.  We had a $10 Disney gift card from the race, so I used that to purchase my ticket. We finally arrived!

The first ride we ran to was Mount Everest.  It’s my absolutely FAVORITE ride ever!!  We chose to do single rider because we would get through faster and unlike Rock’n Roller Coaster, it did not disappoint!  We zoomed through the line.

Seriously, it’s beautiful!
Noelle was extra excited, this was her VERY FIRST time!
After that, we headed to Festival of the Lion King.  My all time favorite show!! I took a lot of video of the performance and I can’t wait to edit it and get it in my Disney highlights video!
Noelle said she even teared up during the performance…. and girlfriend doesn’t ever cry!

After Festival of the Lion King, we met up with Nick’s sister, Collette, and it was great to spend the day with her!  Her and Noelle hit it off really well because they both majored in education and they had a lot to talk about.  They even worked at the same school.  We first stopped for some lunch, which consisted of a Mickey Mouse pretzel (my fave!)

After that, we headed to ride Dinosaur.  Pretty sure there were some complications during our ride because we got stopped for like a minute…

After Dinosaur, we didn’t have much time left and we really wanted to see the Mickey’s Jingle Jungle Parade, so we went back to Mount Everest and got in single-rider again and rode that 2 more times.  Last time Collette and I were at Disney together, I was in the College Program and she was there visiting.  It was insane because this has now happened to us TWICE.  We got in single-rider line, and then they ended up putting us together, we had to document our second occurrence of this phenomenon!

Afterwards, it was time to pick a spot for the parade.  We ended up finding a super great location, but noticed that pictures with Mickey and Minnie were only a 5 minute wait!  We ran over to get our pictures and they were the CUTEST in their Christmas outfits… I mean, I die!

One day, I hope to have the class of Minnie, isn’t she precious!  And Mickey looks like an adorable old man in his sweater!
After the parade, Noelle and I made our way back to the hotel for a quick cat nap and some dinner before heading off to the race.  I’ll be re-capping the race next week and I’m hoping to have my Disney Highlights video on the blog next Friday!  Be sure to check back!

I need your help!

One of the greatest things I love about blogging is that we really do enjoy helping each other out.  I have no doubt that I can come to this little space on the web and find support, encouragement, and love!  I’m coming to y’all today for a special request.

My best friend, Makayla, grew up with diabetes.  We’ve been best friends for 18 years now and she’s battled diabetes for 15 of those years.  On May 10, 2014, the day before her 25th birthday, I’ll be cycling 50 miles with Tour de Cure in New Orleans, LA in honor of her to raise money and awareness for diabetes education and research.  I have no doubt that you or someone you know personally has been affected by diabetes.

American Diabetes Association Tour de Cure

The minimum amount I need to raise is $200 – that allows me to ride that day.  I’m striving to be a champion by raising $1,000.00 though and I seriously need your help!

You can help me fight diabetes in 1 of 3 ways:
1) DONATE to my page.  Any amount is greatly appreciated.  I ask that you leave your name with your donation so that I can personally thank you and recognize you!  I’ll be announcing my donors regularly, if you’re a blogger, I’ll be linking to your blog every time.
2) Share this post with others.  Spread the word!
3) Choose to ride with Tour de Cure and raise money yourself!  Find a location near you.

Together we can make a difference in the fight against diabetes!

Disney Wine & Dine: Friday

Hey y’all!  I’m excited to share about what happened on Friday during the Disney Wine & Dine Weekend.  It was a packed-full day of fun and awesome and tired!

It’s a little bit of a lengthy post, but it’s mostly pictures and videos!  ENJOY!
In case you missed it: Pre-Disney

////////////////////////////////////////////////

So on Friday, we were all packed up from Lacy’s grandmother’s ready to go.  They cooked us breakfast before we left.  I was over the moon excited about returning to Disney!  Our first stop was the Expo.  At the expo we could pick up all of our race material and do some shopping.  Since funds are pretty tight right now, I didn’t do much shopping, but I did pick out an awesome wine glass (I couldn’t help myself, Disney WINE and dine!)  The expo was a lot of fun.

Y’all know I was planning on meeting Meg at Disney.  We had chatted about when we would be at the expo, but I wasn’t sure if we would end up seeing each other there.  The truth is, when I arrived, I was so overwhelmed with everything and the excitement that I forgot she was on her way.  I picked up my packet and then we were rushing over to the pre-race taste packet pick-up when someone grabbed my shoulder, I turned around and IT WAS MEG!!! I embarrassingly jumped up and down like a lunatic because I was sooo excited to see her!  We chatted, I met her mom, dad, and Mike and then we sadly had to depart : (  Our time together surely was not enough!

Also…. we had a good many blogger fails over the weekend!  1. We didn’t take a picture when we first me  2. We didn’t finish our originally planned interview vlog and 3. We didn’t get enough time on the blate overall…

Arriving at the Expo!
We stood in the wrong line for like 20 minutes until realizing that our line was the next one over with barely anyone in it!
Genie!!!!!  If only he could have used his magic to make my run not so painful.
Group photo-op!
My wine glass.  LOVE!
After the Expo, we headed to Sweet Tomatoes for lunch.  I LOVE SWEET TOMATOES!  We don’t have anything like it in Mississippi and I knew my friends would love it just as much as I do and I was completely right!  Remember my friend David?  He met us with his girlfriend at Sweet Tomatoes for lunch.  After we ate way too much (at least it was healthy? right!) we headed to the Boardwalk.  David and I wanted to sneak in the back somewhere and try to say hey to some of our old managers.  David had a “secret passage” he knew about, so we made our way through and didn’t look lost so no one stopped us haha.  We said hey to some old managers and co-workers!  It was a lot of fun and kind of nice to be back… although I wouldn’t want to go back and work as a housekeeper there anywhere.
After we finished up at the Boardwalk, we headed back to the hotel room to freshen up for the Pre-Race taste!  We rode the bus over there and arrived an hour early.  We took a picture with the new Monster’s University design, We got Lacy a “1st visit” pin, and stood in line to film a video.
Monster’s University is the cutest movie EVER!

When we made it inside, we ran to Tower and Terror and waited in line.  After we road that amazing ride, we ran to the Pre-Race Taste event.  At the Pre-race taste event, we ate great food and had amazing drinks.  We ended up sitting by a really great couple from New Jersey.  It was her first half-marathon.  We also got filmed by the Run Disney crew and we ended up being in their video!  In case you missed it…

My interview didn’t get selected, but I think I’m representing Mississippi pretty well, y’all!  Lacy and Noelle made the cut, so did the guy who was from New Jersey!  3/5 people at our table are in the video and that’s practically half the people in the video.
This is where the Lights, Motor, Action stunt show is and where we enjoyed our Pre-race taste!

Mini burgers, mahi-mahi and rice, dessert shooter, and Aulani Sunrise drink!

Our New-Jersey friends!  Seriously, they were awesome!  It made me miss my sweet friend Nicolina!
After the Pre-race taste, we went and road Rock’n Roller Coaster!
I decided to get in the single-rider line, thinking I could get through fast enough to possibly ride again.  Well that was a terrible call because I ended up being on the very last ride of the night.  Lacy & Noelle made it through before I did!
Before we left Hollywood Studios, we stopped by the candy shop and were offered a free mickey caramel apple and some fudge!  Then we filmed another video for the evening and got our picture taken in front of the hat.
Once we left, we decided to head over to the Polynesian because I really wanted some Dole Whip!  I love the stuff.  Lacy and Noelle were not as impressed unfortunately.   We were all exhausted and cranky by the time we finally made it back to the hotel.  I planned on us watching the fire works, but I guess I misjudged the timing because they were practically done when we arrived with our Dole Whip.
That was the end of our Friday!
