Quick Life Update + {Interview Tag}

Happy Wednesday!

Here are some quick recaps on life lately!  Last weekend was of course Valentine’s Day and I had a wonderful weekend with Nick.  My beautiful roses arrived on Thursday and they were quite a surprise!  They’re doing so good too. I continue to get compliments on how beautiful they look.

Friday night, he didn’t get into town until super late so I enjoyed my free time at Target until he arrived.  We decided to see the Lego movie.  It was a great kid and adult movie!  I had Chinese for dinner that night – it was delicious as always!  Tofu & Fried Rice, yum!

Saturday we went and had lunch at Izzo’s Illegal Burrito.  Neither of us had been there before so we were excited to try it out.  Nick got a massive burrito and did an excellent job at not spilling it out or making a mess.  I got a small burrito bowl with rice, beans, and mushroom for my base and lots of yummy toppings!

Nick hadn’t been to the new Whole Foods in Jackson yet, so that was our next stop and I told him that since it was his first visit, I’d buy him his first treat!  Not surprisingly, he went with a growler!

We also picked up “dessert” while we were there and I got my all time fave – vegan double chocolate cookie and pomegranate kevita.  Nick went for the blueberry muffin and blueberry kambucha.  We were not disappointed of course.  I’m starting to think I need to create a separate budget for Whole Foods – me oh my.

Sunday turned out to be a much bigger day than I expected.  I planned on going to church and then going home to relax and prepare for the week.  Instead it was non-stop.  I went to church, and then after church, met up for lunch with Nick and his sister.  Me and his sister swung by my house to pick up some yoga clothes, went back to her house to film the video you’re about to watch below, and then went to a yoga class, went and fed their other brother’s dogs, then I took her back home and then met up with my friend Makayla.  I left home that morning around 9:30 expecting to be back around noon.  I ended up getting back home around 8:30pm.  I was exhausted!

Now go watch this video.  I’m linking up with MamaKat with my Interview Tag!  Enjoy!  Go subscribe to my channel or like my video!

The Perks of Having a Real Job

I’ve been at this “big girl” job thing for a little over a month now.  I quickly began to realize that there are A LOT of perks to having a real job.  I’ve had “real jobs” before, but not like this one.  After graduation, I went and worked at Disney.  I consider that a “little kid” job because I played more days than not.  I worked my tush off though, cleaning rooms is not a cake walk!  After that, I went and worked at Mississippi State University as an AmeriCorps VISTA.  Again, I worked my tush off, but I lived back in my college town.  I could wear jeans and a t-shirt to work if I truly wanted too.  I got the same holidays as the students.  Then I went into the grave of unemployment.  It was cool at first, but it quickly became depressing and frustrating.  Rejection after rejection.  I picked up some side jobs here and there to keep me afloat, but then I finally landed this “big girl” job.  I was a little skeptical at first.  Not sure if I would really enjoy it, afraid that there would be no room for growth and can I just praise the Lord right now that none of that is the case!  I quickly learned that there is massive potential in this job and I’ve been enjoying it more than I ever expected to.  I love the people I work with, I love my boss, I love the actual work that I do.  It’s meticulous, It’s organized, It’s unique.

The Perks of Having a Real Job

{1} Good People
This isn’t for everyone.  You may hate the people you work with, but when I took my personality test, I ranked extremely high in needing to enjoy my co-workers.  I could hate what my actual job was as long as I enjoyed the people I worked with.  For me, a perk of having this particular job, are the people.  My boss treats me great, my co-workers have been unbelievably helpful and patient with me.

{2} Free Food & Coffee
I’ve been able to get lots of free food lately.  Not exactly great for my waistline, but my taste buds are definitely enjoying it.  We have a kitchen area where people leave things they don’t want or where they are eating things they aren’t going to finish.

I walk in one day…. basket full of Reese’s!  *score*  I may have taken a few back to my desk to hoard.

I walk in one day…. A large sheet of cake!  *score*
I walk in one day… someone is finishing up her Popeye’s lunch and offers me her biscuit.  I LOOOOVVEEE Popeye’s biscuits!  There is also free coffee at all times.
{3} Deliveries
I now have a place that deliveries can be made.  I feel all grown up! haha  I got roses delivered for Valentine’s day (all you Valentine’s critics, I find you ridiculous.  That’s another post for another day, but just because I celebrate love throughout the year, doesn’t mean I shouldn’t celebrate it on Valentine’s day as well.  I call you bitter. FYI)  I got beautiful roses and although I continuously feel loved, it didn’t make me dislike receiving this beautiful surprise at work!
{4} Early morning meetings = free breakfast!
My boss and I had planned on meeting first thing in the morning.  He picked us up Chick-fil-A!  I told him I don’t eat meat, but that I love hash browns!  He brought me a bagel and hash browns.  I will not complain about that!
I was also having a good hair day.  Thanks hair.
{5} Girl Scout Cookies
I don’t know about you, but I’ve had a difficult time finding girl scout cookies the past few years.  We just don’t have them a lot in Starkville.  Now that I’m in a more populated city, I walked into the kitchen one day, and there was a form…. just staring at me, waiting for me to input my cookie amount and type.  So I obliged.  I may have just ordered 10 boxes of girl scout cookies – but look at it this way, Nick will get 5 of those… so technically, I just ordered 5.  Also, I haven’t ordered cookies in probably 5 years, so let’s just say I’ve had one box a year for the past 5 years.
I love my job.
I love the people.
I love the perks!
What perks do you have with your job?
How important is it that you work with people you enjoy?

Friday Letters: My Virtual Valentines

Today, I decided to participate in Friday Letters with Ashley in order to write a letter to everyone in my life. Keep reading, because you should all be included!

Dear Nick,
Thanks for making me laugh when I’m sad or upset over the small and large.  Thanks for being the voice of reason when I’m frustrated or annoyed with others or just life in general.  Thanks for fixing things for me, the things that I would either have to pay big bucks for someone else to do (like fixing my head light) or even the things that I could easily do myself (like reset my “change oil” light).  You are one of the smartest people I know and I’m grateful to have you in my life.  You’re loving, funny, generous, and helpful!  I loovvee yyoouuuu!!!!

Happy Valentines Day

Dear Parents,
Thanks for raising me in a loving household.  Thanks for providing me with all that I need to succeed, for instilling in my morals, kindness, love, and determination.  Thanks for letting me live with you during this time of instability.  I love y’all.

Happy Valentines Day

Dear Sisters,
I feel like I rarely see y’all these days!  I miss y’all a lot.  I hope college is turning out to be everything you hoped.  I pray you’re making good choices and loving those around you.  We should plan a trip together sometime.  I’m proud of y’all and I’m blessed to have y’all as sisters.  I love our time during the holidays the most – it’s genuine, it’s fun, and it’s care-free.  I love you girls!

Happy Valentines Day

Dear sweet friends,
I wish I had the time or space to address each of you individually.  The truth is, God has blessed me with amazing women (and men) in my life.  To the friend who is completely honest with me no matter what.  Who confronts me when I stray and uplifts me when I’m on track.  Thank you.  Seriously…. I can’t imagine life without you!  I love you.  To the friends who attack me with hugs when they see me, yet in that same movement, attack me with hateful words.  I know you say hateful things because you love me too.  Our relationship would be non-existent if we didn’t make fun of each other and give each other a hard time.  I love y’all.  To that life-long friend… the one that has seen the good, bad, ugly, and lame.  I’m thankful that we have been in each other’s life for so long and I expect decades more!  I love you and I’m continuing to pray for your loss and pain.  To the ones who lived out that Disney magic alongside me, I owe you more than I could ever express.  Thanks for the laughs and the rides and the fun!  Thanks for accepting me and loving me so quickly.  Thanks for letting me cry when I needed to.  Thanks for the unbelievable amount of reeses.  Thanks for existing in my life and leaving an impression.  I love y’all.  To the cousin who has been like a best friend and sister for years now.  I miss you more than I could ever imagine.  I’m sure that’s evident by the amount of trips I’ve taken to come visit you and your perfect family.  Thank you for always providing honest feedback, giving advice when I needed it most, and sharing your life and friends with me.  Thanks for making me a part of your special day and a part of your baby’s life.  I love you to the moon and back.

Happy Valentines Day

Dear blog friends,
Again, this is another area that I wish I had the time and space to devote to each individual blogger that has shaped my life these past few years.  Thank you for giving me a reason to blog.  Thank you for sending care packages and supporting me through your comments.  Thank you for providing me a space that is encouraging and uplifting.  Honestly, I wonder how people without blogs live… I can’t imagine a life without a blog.  I appreciate every comment, every mention, every gift, and every criticism or encouragement.  I may not know you in person, but there is a love there.  Y’all have touched my heart.

Happy Valentines Day

To everyone else that has made an impression on my life, I thank you.  We may not be in each others life during this time, but there was a time when we were.  I’ve been tremendously blessed by all those who have entered into the different phases and seasons of my life.  There are days w
hen I whine and complain about this or that, but the truth is… God has taken outstanding care of me and has placed the most outstanding people throughout my life.  I’m so grateful for you all.  The good and the bad.

Happy Valentines Day
