Thanksgiving 2016

Good Morning and Happy Saturday!!

I hope you and your family had a wonderfully blessed Thanksgiving filled with love, laughter, delicious food, and much more.  I enjoyed celebrating my first Thanksgiving in my new home.  I woke up with my sister and we made some “sausage” croissants (a family tradition!)

She used a fake sausage crumble of course and then she seasoned it perfectly mixed with cream cheese and wrapped in a croissant, cut into pin-wheels.

The remainder of the morning was spent prepping food for lunch with my family.  I made Green Bean Casserole, Cornbread Dressing, Vegetarian Gravy, and Peanut Butter Pie.  My sister made mashed potatoes.  Everything turned out so good!  I have found a new Green Bean Casserole (it’s not the one on the back of the french fried onion box) and it’s completely plant-based except the fried onions.  I’m absolutely in love with it!   The cornbread dressing was definitely not healthy (2 sticks of butter!!) but it was delicious and everything I hoped for.  I tried to find a healthier recipe, but would you believe that one does not exist – That I can find?  Lastly, the vegetarian gravy…. y’all – I can’t even begin to express how delicious this gravy was!  My dad even liked it and he’s all about that meat.  It tasted perfect!  I will never miss meaty bone fat gravy again.  Now, I tried Minimalist Baker’s Vegan Peanut Butter Pie.  I didn’t get to eat it during Thanksgiving because I was a little late making it, but I had a slice this morning and it wasn’t half bad.  I’ll be honest though, when you’re used to creamy peanut butter pie with cream cheese and sugar and all that’s horribly wrong for you – it’s not even close to the same thing.  My dad refused to give it a try though because it contains tofu haha.  You really can’t taste the tofu and I think it’s worth giving a try.  I love the chocolate gonache on top – I’ll definitely be using that on top of some other pies in the future.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get any good pictures the remainder of the day.  I did spend a good bit of the Holiday reading my next book club book though and it was so good!

Have you read Me Before You?

me_before_you

I finished it pretty quickly because it wrapped me in.  Their relationship was so sweet and I loved seeing it bloom throughout the book.  I won’t spoil the ending for you in case you haven’t read it, but I certainly was a bag of emotions at the end of it all.  I immediately watched the movie afterwards.  The movie left off a few things I found critical in the book, so be sure to read the book!

I love reading a good book during the holidays.  I mostly read personal development books these days, but this was a nice treat to get lost in another person’s story and life.  I can’t wait to discuss this one with the girls!

After spending the morning lost in the book, I went to a Holiday Open House with local vendors.  It was so much and I went Facebook Live for the very first time!!  Do y’all know how scary that is?!  No room for error, right?  It was fun though and I got more comfortable with it as I continued on.  That’s exactly how life is though – we step outside of our comfort zone and suddenly our comfort zone expands and it’s not as scary anymore.

That about sums up my Thanksgiving Holiday!!  Today I’m going to pick up a tree at my parents and get to decorating!  I love this time of year and I’m excited to spend it with those I love most.  We have a few exciting things on the calendar for the month of December – a first annual Thanksmas party, Nick’s first work Christmas Party (I’m excited to meet some more of his co-workers!) and then of course, my office Christmas Party.  I’m going to miss our Arbonne Christmas party this year because it falls on the same day as Nick’s work party, but that’s okay.

Alrighty, well I’m off to do some more cleaning before starting to decorate.  Hope you all had a wonderful holiday!

June Bliss – Books, Blogs, & Burgers!

Happy Wednesday, friends!

Today we’re linking up our Bliss posts, but before we get to that let’s talk about BREAKFAST & my WORKOUT this morning.  I chose to do a 30 minute walk this morning since my legs are so sore from the HIIT class I took last night!  Man, that class wears me out – think about squat after squat after squat or lunge after lunge after lunge….. ouch!  I came home this morning and had a glass of chocolate milk, a banana, & a boiled egg & vegetarian bacon english muffin!  Now I’m off to get ready for work, but check out what’s been bringing me Bliss this month!

PRODUCTS/THINGS

Blogging_for_Books_Lockup_2

{1} Never Eat Alone

I recently became a “Blogging for Books” Affiliate and now receive free books to review.  You’ll get a full review once I complete this book, but I have LOVED it so far.  Sure, I’m only on Chapter 2, but I already know I’m going to learn a ton!  It’s a business book and talks about networking & relationships.  Stay tuned for my review in a couple weeks!

jack-juicer

{2} Jack LaLanne Juicer

I was super excited when I found this beauty at Dirt Cheap for a mere $26!!! I’ve used it a handful of times now and still can’t believe I’m lucky enough to have found it!  If you’ve thought about juicing, I would recommend a Jack Lalanne Juicer, but hopefully you can score a great deal like I did!

blender-bottle

{3} Blender Bottle

Not only has this shaker been great for my juices, but it’s been an excellent way to keep up with my water consumption at work.  I’ve had a problem getting plenty of water throughout the day, so I’m working on drinking one blender bottle by 12:30 and another by 4:30 so I at least get about 50 ounces of water during the day.

BLOGGERS/POSTS

I like to dedicate a portion of my #BloggerBliss to new bloggers I’ve been able to find throughout the month!  It helps keep me engaged with bloggers and constantly finding new blogs to support and hopefully new friendships down the road!  I’ve been transitioning my blog into a more health conscious blog so I can encourage myself to eat better and workout more, but also encourage others.  This month I found some really great Healthy Living blogs & posts to share!

{1} Char Eats Greens

This girl became a vegetarian and then quickly became a vegan!  I love finding other bloggers like me!  She’s also a runner & loves Starbucks – clearly we’re meant to be friends!  And if you’re thinking that going vegan means you have to cut out all the good stuff – then you should seriously check out her recipe for Triple Threat Vegan Gluten-Free Brownies because oh em gee… I’m giving that a try for sure!

{2} Sweet Miles: A running & lifestyle blog

I love the clean feel to this blog.  You get there and instantly feel refreshed!  She’s another runner, but I love drawing inspiration and encouragement from other bloggers who run.  When I read about their runs, it helps me envision my own run and gets me motivated.   She’s not all about running though – her goal is a healthy lifestyle.  She created this amazing post for 7 Ways to Maintain a Healthy & Active Marriage and although I’m not married, I could re-title it 7 Ways to Maintain a Healthy & Active Relationship because I think that’s just as important and I felt like most of these could be applied to mine and Nick’s relationship – with the exception of some things due to our long-distant relationship!

{3} Bagels to Broccoli

Another blog that’s clean and refreshing to stumble upon!  Jen isn’t a vegetarian (as far as I can tell), but she works to incorporate more veggies and a healthy lifestyle.  In fact, she recently completed her very FIRST half-marathon! {You can read about that here}

It has been such a treat stumbling onto these ladies blogs and I hope you’ll enjoy them too!

MOMENTS

I, of course, enjoy recapping some special moments from the month and the biggest one that sticks out to me is finally switching my blog over from From Here to There to No Bologna!  I’d been wanting to make a change for so long and I feel like a dream has finally come alive!! It’s still a work in progress, but I love what this space is becoming and how it’s encapsulating my love for health, veggies, & fitness!

I forgot to mention that Nick and I tried out Majestic Burger!  I’m not sure if it’s a local place or if there are chain restaurants floating around, but I went with their veggie burger and it was great!  Plus those onion rings… I could make a meal out of any kind of fried side dish… onion rings, pickles, zucchini, okra… you name it!

Lastly… National Donut Day…. Enough Said!

Books That Have Changed My Life

*Please note: All links are affiliate links!*

I haven’t been reading as much as I would like lately.  I love what a good book can do though.  It can encourage, it can INSPIRE, it can empower, it can educate, & it can do so much more!  I wanted to share with you some of the most inspirational books I’ve read lately.  If you get a chance to read one of these books, you really should!

{Captivating: Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman’s Soul}
I can’t even keep count of how many times I’ve read this book.  It’s the best book for women.  When I find myself stressing over my own personal inadequacies or when I don’t feel beautiful – I read this book.  It puts my beauty back into perspective.  My beauty is not judged by the world – it’s judged by God.  He finds me beautiful and captivating and worthy.  There will come days when Nick cannot be everything I need/want him to be.  He’s human.  There will come days when I cannot possibly be everything Nick needs or wants.  I’m human.  Instead of getting depressed over this fact though, I’m reminded of God’s love and although undeserving, it’s full of grace and mercy!  He finds me completely captivating.  He desires to be my best friend, the love of my life, my one & only!

{Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead}
I have definitely struggled finding my place in the professional work force over the past couple of years. Sheryl Sandberg does a wonderful job of explaining why you should never let the fact that you’re a woman keep you from excelling and doing just as much as a man.  We should lean in to opportunities instead of stepping back because we fear what others may think since we’re a woman or we fear our own failure because we may not be “good enough”.  Take the plunge and allow yourself to become a woman in leadership.  This book did my professional soul a whole lot of good!  I’m about to re-read it for a refresher.  If I loved a book so much that I would re-read it, then it’s worth mentioning!

{Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God}
Here’s the thing – If I’m being completely honest with you… I struggle to love others at times.  I can be judgmental, I can be harsh, I can be unforgiving.  You know what else is true though?  I’m the least deserving of love and the most deserving of judgement and harshness and unforgiveness, yet God loves me!  Why is it so hard for me to love others in return?  This book helped me figure out my own soul when it comes to loving others and forgiving others.  It helped me realize the depth of God’s love for me and what he calls me to do.  It was a beautiful and challenging book to read.  There will be days when you feel so challenged by the words you read, you have to put the book down for a few days.  There will be days when you’re so moved by the words you read, that tears are flowing for the desire within you to be the person God has called you to be.  This book is worth a read!  If you can get a biblestudy together to read a chapter each week and discuss – that’d be even better!

{Blog, Inc.: Blogging for Passion, Profit, and to Create Community}
I haven’t finished this book yet, unfortunately.  From what I have read so far though, it’s excellent.  I then packed it up when I left Starkville and I haven’t been able to find it since.  I know it’s in a box somewhere, I’m just not sure where at this point.  I do intend to finish it completely one of these days.  If you want to improve your blog, grow your blog, make money blogging, or anything else that deals with blogging – then you should read this book!

Here are some books on my “too read” list!  I love having a strong list of books that will challenge, motivate, empower, encourage, & guide me.  I just started Steve Jobs & I’ve started Forgotten God before, but I don’t think I’ve finished it so I’d like to go back.

Steve Jobs
Bossypants
Vegan for Life: Everything You Need to Know to Be Healthy and Fit on a Plant-Based Diet
Forgotten God: Reversing Our Tragic Neglect of the Holy Spirit

What books have inspired you lately?  I’d love to read your suggestions!
