Pineapple Lettuce Wraps and Renting a Netflix

Happy Thursday everyone! It has been one slammed week for me, but I love keeping busy, so it’s been great.  Tonight is my Arbonne “launch” party so I’m excited and nervous about getting this started.  I know I’ll have at least a few people in attendance! I pretty much have something every single night this week and because of mine and Nick’s work schedules, we will never get the chance to have lunch together this summer.  Since I had a free night last night, I suggested that we rent a redbox  (I actually said rent a Netflix and Nick got a kick out of that) and cook dinner together.  I thought that the Pineapple Water chestnut lettuce wraps would be good and refreshing now that it’s heated up in Mississippi.  I remember being surprised at how much I liked them when Mary Lindsey served them at our Health Starts Here graduation.

They definitely turned out to be delicious, but they weren’t very filling so I’m glad Nick had already prepared some lentils as a side.  He just cooked the lentils normal and then when we were ready to eat a bowl, we seasoned it a bit with cumin, paprika, and red pepper flakes.  They turned out a lot more delicious than I expected.  Nick has been raving about lentils ever since the Engine 2 challenge and has been telling me that I really need to incorporate them into my diet, especially since I’m a vegetarian, but I just never took the time to cook or taste them.  I’m a fan though!

GIRLS ON THE RUN

I never knew there was an actual thing called May Day until this year.  My sweet GOTR cuties have been talking about May Day literally all.season.long!  I loved hearing their enthusiasm and watching them act out some of their performance before GOTR practice every day.  Finally the week came and they were all giddy with excitement, so I mentioned that I might come watch and I got some basic information from one of the parents.  Well when I said that, a few of them just got over the moon excited, so I knew I absolutely had to be there now!

Each grade goes through and performs their skit for the audience.  When 4th grade comes to perform, they wrap the May Day pole.  It’s really pretty and the parents get all teary-eyed.  It meant a lot to me that I could be there to see some of my girls perform.  They all did such a great job!  I was only able to locate one of my girls the entire time and had pretty much given up on finding any others.  I was about to leave, but they suggested I stick around and have some food before taking off, so I did to be polite.  I’m so glad that I did because that one girl had found 2 others, so I was able to see 3/8 of my girls there!  I wish I could have seen them all, but it was chaotic with all the families and children running around and having picnics.

may-day-fun

I cannot even express how wonderful Girls on the Run has been this season and how blessed I am by every single one of the girls I have the privilege of working with.  I’ll be sure to do a full re-cap of GOTR and hopefully answer any questions you may have.  If you have a GOTR in your area, please do yourself a favor and volunteer your time to this wonderful organization!

Yesterday was my last day with Girls on the Run and they were absolutely precious.  We do this ‘go bananas’ cheer at the end of every practice, I was surprised at how much they all loved it throughout the season (because you act a little silly and I surely thought they may be too cool for that! haha)  We accidentally kept saying that we would do the LAST ‘go bananas’ cheer before we all left for the day.  They would flip out and say, “no!  it’s not our last cheer.  Just say we’re doing the ‘go bananas’ cheer.  Nothing else.  We don’t want it to be our last.”  They also asked if we could be their coaches next year and if we would all be together again.  We asked them what they liked or disliked about GOTR this season and one girl said everything and nothing!  Basically they all stole my heart and I didn’t realize I could like kids this much because I haven’t been a huge fan the past few years.  I think it’s because I burnt myself out on volunteering for Sunday School at church many many years ago when my mom was Preschool & Children’s minister.  Now I think it’s safe to say… I love kids.  Especially the 3rd-5th grade.  They totally think I’m cool and I love it.  We kept our practice very low-key yesterday and I think it was the best thing we could have done.  We spent 30 minutes chatting about the season and getting some input, then we spent another 30 minutes playing games – freeze tag, simon says, and mother may I.  The coaches played along with them and these girls wore me slap out from freeze tag.  They are fast!  The last 15 minutes we handed out their end of season gifts – picture frame that held our group picture from the 5k race, purple nail polish, GOTR headband, breath mints, and a personalized note.  We all hugged before leaving and I didn’t shed a single tear, which I’m super proud of.  They kept telling me not to cry, so I listened.  Luckily, we still have to finalize our community service project, so I look forward to seeing them all again in a few weeks!

Time for me to get ready for work, then after work, I’ll be hosting my “launch” party!  If you’re interested in contributing an order to Arbonne for my party, you can do so by clicking this link!  Like I’ve said time and time again, their protein powder is legit.  So if you run or workout and like a post-run smoothie or protein shake, you will not be disappointed, but they have plenty of other great products that are worth the investment!

Non-stop Monday!

Good morning!  This week has already been pretty busy for me, what about you?

I worked until about 3:30pm yesterday then headed out for Girls on the Run (our last meeting is tomorrow and I’m going to be a waterfall of tears!)  We kept it pretty simple yesterday since we’re already done with our 5k race.  We did our last lesson of the season for about half of it, then just let them choose games to play – their choices were freeze tag and the tangle game.  The tangle game (because I don’t know it’s actual name) is when you grab an arm across from you, different people linked to each arm and you can’t grab anyone that’s next to you, then you have to figure out how to untangle yourself.  We played that at one point during the season and surprisingly they loved it!  I don’t remember being a big fan of it as a child h
aha.  After GOTR, I headed over to Nick’s to pick him up for dinner, we chose our favorite chinese place because I heard a commercial on the radio for asian food and instantly craved it!  After dinner we had to pick up some signed waiver’s from our friends house because they’re joining us for the Dragon Boat Regatta this weekend and we had to bring the waiver’s to our practice session last night.  Since they had a graduation to attend (on a Monday night? Crazy!) we took the waivers for them.

In case you haven’t heard of a Dragon Boat Regatta, picture the largest canoe possible and stick 25 rowers in there who are racing for the win.  Our office is racing a boat so it should be a pretty fun work event this weekend!  I’ll be in the very front, leading the rowers in rhythm.  It’s a scary and tough task, but I think me and my partner did a stand up job last night.  Now I just need muscles by Saturday!  Are there any get ripped quick schemes out there?!

Another exciting thing from yesterday… MY FIRST ARBONNE PACKAGE ARRIVED!

arbonne-products

I chose one of the business builder sets so I could get a large variety of products to start using.  I already knew that I loved the RE9 face wash set and the protein powder, so I figured the other stuff is probably added bonus because I assume I’ll be pleased with it as well and if not, then it’ll be great to share with others who may like it!  Not pictured is my shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.  You see here the RE9 face set, the Genius Resurfacing Pads, my business builder set of samples, catalogs, and information about the company, 2 bags of protein powder, 2 bags of fiber, and a box of digestion plus.  I don’t have stomach issues or digestion problems, so if you’re interested in a sample of Digestion plus, I’d be happy to mail one to you!  Send me an e-mail with your name & address at nobolognablog@gmail.com.

You’ll also notice just a few changes on the blog, the top right corner now has an Arbonne tab, once I start doing product reviews & informative posts, you’ll be able to find everything there.  I promise I’ll do my best not to saturate my blog with Arbonne product information, but you will occasionally see stuff about it and if you want to find that post again, you can always check that tab!  I also have a link to my personal Arbonne website, so you can browse our product catalog.  They have some really great ways of saving money with Arbonne, including a Preferred Client Discount, e-mail me if you’d like information on that!  At the present moment, I’ve highlighted some of my personal favorites on that page!

I swear I planned on talking about more with today’s post, but since we’ve already covered a handfull of topics, I’ll save the rest for tomorrow!

  • Has your week already been super busy?
  • Have you done Dragon Boating before?  Was it a lot of fun?  How long were you sore afterwards?
  • What Arbonne products would you be most excited to try? – Skin Care, Beauty/Makeup, Nutrition?

Florida Birthday Re-cap 1

Good Morning!  I was looking through some pictures yesterday and realized that I never shared about our trip to Disney and my birthday.  I’m warning you now, this will be a major picture overhaul, but I feel like I actually did a good job at enjoying myself tremendously while also capturing what all happened.  It was a jam packed trip, but we had such a wonderful time, I couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate my birthday!  I’ll break this into a two part blog post.

On Monday, we headed out of town around 11pm.  We had plans to grab breakfast with our friends, Joel & Charlotte, in Atlanta.  It was a slight detour, but we decided it’s probably worth the trouble in the future because we were able to try a new restaurant and spend some time catching up with them.  Although it was extremely short, it was very sweet!

thumbs-up-diner

They decided to take us to Thumbs Up Diner, which was absolutely delicious!  I think we were all impressed with our choices for breakfast that morning.  I went with a veggie omelet, a slice of french toast, and a hot cup of coffee.

After breakfast, Joel & Charlotte had to head off to work and we started our journey down to Gainesville to see Nick’s brother & sister-in-law.  We were just dropping by because we knew we’d be seeing them very shortly at Disney World since they were coming down the day after us.  While we waited on Trey to get back in town, we had a delicious lunch and visited a unique grocery store down the street from their house.  I can’t for the life of me remember what this place was called, but we found a few things that we were excited to try!

grocery-haul

We got some dark chocolate cherries that were really delicious, but we didn’t get a chance to finish the bag because we accidentally left them in the car and they completely melted (FAIL.)  You all know how much I love Kevita, so I wanted to try this new-to-me flavor, Blueberry Cherry, along with a Kombucha brew that Nick picked out.  Our main reason for going was because Kathryn saw a vegan fruit chew that she thought I might like, so I definitely had to get some, but I ended up not liking it very much.  Nick loved them though and had no problem polishing off the bag.  Lastly, my cousin got me hooked on these homeopathic remedies when we were in Jamaica.  She has one that she uses for tension/stress and one that she uses for a hangover when needed.  I  never got too crazy in Jamaica, but there was one morning that I woke up less than par, so I tried one of her homeopathic remedies and it seemed to do a good job.  I wanted to find a sleep aid homeopathic remedy to help us fall asleep quickly at night so we would get as much rest as possible, so I picked that up while we were there also.  It seemed to work great throughout the trip too so I highly recommend it!

Of course, lots of fun with this little nugget during the entire visit – although it never seems like enough!

nugget-time

Tuesday night, Nick and I made the rest of our trip down to Orlando so I could be ready for my conference on Wednesday morning.  The conference ended up being super informative and I had some good vegetarian options.

This was a delicious Greek meal where I made a falafel pita pocket and had cous cous and a greek salad on the side.  Not much else to share regarding my work conference because I’m pretty sure I’d bore you all to sleep at the computer, so I’ll move on to Wednesday night after the conference.  I could have decided to join the conference attendees at a sponsored dinner, but it was at a steak house and I really wanted to spend some extra time with Kathryn and the baby, so I decided to meet them at their hotel for dinner instead.  We had an early birthday celebration and spent the evening snuggling on sweet baby Cade and chit chatting!

Kathryn and I both ordered a drink with our meal… I can’t remember exactly what it was, but it was pomegranate something I believe.  The point is that it was delicious!

Later than night, Nick and I went out to explore Downtown Disney for a bit.  So much has changed and so much continues to change in this area of Disney World!  We were a little overwhelmed with how crowded it was, but that helped prepare us for Thursday night activities, so I think it was worth the trip.

Thursday morning, I woke up to attend the remainder of my conference, again, I learned so many awesome things and I’m so thankful I had the opportunity to attend this special event in Orlando. After the event, I periodically checked my work e-mail to make sure I didn’t miss anything, but other than that, I shut off my work brain so I could focus on spending time with these wonderful people on my birthday at Disney World!  I’ll be back to share what activities we did for my birthday along with everything else that wrapped up a phenomenal trip to Florida!

Switching gears….

How are you?!  April was a busy month for me and I didn’t make a lot of time for blogging.  I certainly missed it.  I have a lot of random stuff going on right now, but things will slow down a little bit since Girls on the Run ends this week.  I’m going to miss these beautiful little girls!  I also jumped on the Arbonne ban-wagon and I’m so excited about it!  I’m not a “sales” person, but I love their products and I will happily promote them if I find value from them and believe in them.  Arbonne is 100% vegan, so I really cherish that about the company.  You’ll see a lot more posts and updates to the blog about Arbonne, so be on the look out.  If you ever have questions or are interested in sampling some products, feel free to reach out!  I’m working on my personal schedule right now so I can fit in everything I want to do – one of those things… reading blogs!  Holy cow, I have not sought out new blogs to read in ages and the blogs I do follow, do not get a lot of attention from me right now, but I crave that blogging interaction, so while I’m trying to find time for everything I have committed to or volunteered for, I also want to make time for YOU!

So seriously… the main questions I want you to answer in today’s comments – How are you doing?  What’s new with you?  Do you have an exciting trip planned?  Are you trying out a new venture?  Do you need prayer for something specific?  Just give me an update on your life because I know April flew by and I missed out on a lot of blogging interaction.
