Why I started blogging…

Hooah and Hiccups

In order for you to understand why I started blogging, I need to introduce you to 2 amazing bloggers!  In all honesty, these 2 bloggers were the reason I started blogging.

When I look at these two bloggers, I realize that their blogs are true to who they are and they have been since I started reading.  These are the bloggers I want to be like.  I want to be able to gain readers and friends not by how many group giveaways I participate in or how much money I make or spend on sponsorship,  but from the material I post and the relationships I choose to nurture.

A few weeks ago I was thinking about changing up the way my blog functioned and I added a sponsorship tab.  A few weeks later, I realized that that wasn’t the true direction I wanted my blog to go.  I love these two bloggers even more than I did when I first started reading and blogging because over the past 2 years (since I got into blogging), they’ve stayed true to who they are and what they want for their blog.  I came to that realization just a few weeks ago and decided that I was creating sponsorship because I thought that’s what I was SUPPOSE to do, but these bloggers have over 300 and 500 followers and they don’t have sponsorship and I don’t see them participate in huge group giveaways.  They are who they are and I love that about them.  THIS is why I started blogging….

Holly @ 8six11
Holly was one of my very first followers.  I’m not sure what she saw in my blog or why in the world she wanted to follow along, but she did.  When she started following me, she also started commenting on most of my posts.  As a beginner blogger, that was amazing to me!  I had started getting to know this whole other person, somewhere else in the country, who was interested in what I had to say and carried a conversation with me regularly!  Holly started her blog immediately after she got married on 8six11 and talks about life with her husband and their 2 furbabies, who are ADORABLE!  She recently started training using the C25K program and she’s doing great!  If you don’t follow Holly, you should!  She loves cupcakes and photography and it’s obvious that she’s great at both.

Lori @ A Crazy Walk on the Safe Side
Lori was another blogger that I read from the very beginning.  I loved Lori because she was so down to earth and real about what she wrote.  She has always provided wonderful comments on my posts and has always replied back to my comments with love and attention.  She’s a UGA fan, which I loved from the moment I met her because when I don’t have to be a MSU fan, I’m a UGA fan.  She still does the old fashioned blog giveaways (not with rafflecopter), she talks real life about her husband and their new house and their precious baby on the way!  She travels a lot and I love seeing where all she goes.  She, too, doesn’t have sponsorship, but over 500 people are interested in what she has to say and she’s the type of blogger I want to be!
I started blogging because of the inspiration from these 2 bloggers and to this day, they’re two of my favorites!  I continue to blog because of the other relationships I’ve made through blogging.  At first, it was just something to pass the time while I worked a student worker job on campus during my senior year of college, now it’s part of my life.
Why did YOU start blogging?

City Bagel Cafe

One of my favorite places to eat in Starkville, MS is City Bagel Cafe!  I can always find something filling, healthy, fresh, and delicious!

The inside is so cute and they have a huge assortment of bagels!  It’s no panera bread, but it’s close!

I always get the either the chicken salad on a bagel or the tuna salad on a bagel.  My favorite bagel right now is the jalepeno cheddar!  It’s delicious y’all!  And my new favorite veggie… SPROUTS!  I had never had sprouts before until I had them on my bagel here.  When I went this time, they had forgotten to give me sprouts, so I had to request some.  Again, I always feel like I’m eating healthy here because everything tastes so fresh and I get lots of veggies along with my sandwich and veggies are the hardest things for me to eat!

What are some great locally owned restaurants in your town?
If you ever come visit me, you can bet I’ll be taking you to City Bagel!

It’s GO Time!

Happy Monday!  It’s been a while since I’ve done a Fitness/Training post, so here ya go!

What I’m training for
Soak up the Sun
Training Process:
Continuing the C210K App (on race day, I’ll be at a 5K)
Swim 3-4 times per week (with 1 training session next weekend)
Bike to and from work, long rides on the weekends
20 Days to go!
Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon
Training Process:
Finish C210K App, end of June
July & August – Toning
August through November – Half Training plan
185 Days to go!

I have wanted to do a triathlon for 3 years now and every year I come up with the following excuses: not enough time, not enough  money, I’ll just wait until next year.  When I found out about the Soak up the Sun Triathlon, those same thoughts ran through my head.  I know I want to do a triathlon, but I’m terrified of doing one.  I haven’t swam in almost a year now and I just learned how to do so about 2-3 years ago.  I found out about this triathlon exactly 25 days before the actual race and came up with a few thousand excuses until I realized that I wasn’t “living life to the fullest” like I wanted too.  So here I am… training for my very first triathlon!  Luckily, it’s a short one (sprint, as they call it)… 200m swim, 8m bike, 2m run.

Did a practice run 5/5/13 – 1:17:37
This included changing out of my swimsuit, drying off, changing into running clothes, cleaning off my bike equipment and walking a little through the run.  Doing this run through made me feel a lot more confident in my abilities and pumped me up for the race!
///
What are you training for right now?  Have you ever signed up for a race last minute that you didn’t feel prepared for?  For any of you veteran triathletes out there: Have any advice for me?
