It’s not attractive. It’s not very cool.

The other day I was transferring all of my pictures from my laptop to my new external hard drive that I got for Christmas.  My computer has been really slow lately (partly because it’s also really old), but partly because it got bogged down once I turned into a vlogger.

Well, as I was going through some of the old pictures, I realized that back in high school, I totally thought that “duck face” looked cool.  I have no doubt that my friends thought so too, or else they probably wouldn’t have been my friends, but’s it’s clear that throughout high school and yes, I’ll admit, community college, I was obsessed with the well known “duck face” picture.

Because I’m a blogger, and embarrassing myself comes with the territory, I thought I would share with you my uncanny amount of “duck face” pictures.  You’re welcome, world.

So let this be a reminder to myself…. NEVER do the “duck face” again!
It’s not attractive.
It’s not very cool.
You look like a duck.
Or a constipated duck at times.
Then again….
this face kind of does it’s own thing, so I can’t promise it definitely won’t happen again.
Stay tuned for a list of things that I probably shouldn’t have done during middle school, high school, and yes…. college.
Have a great day!

FINALLY

It is FINALLY here.
Tomorrow is the day.  Tomorrow is the official grand opening.
Jackson, MS is now the proud owner of a Whole Foods Market.

I was so excited to have the opportunity to attend a tour of our new store!
It was ahhh-mazing!  It made me giddy inside and was perfectly tailored to my beloved state!

I have BIG ideas, people.  I can’t wait to meet with their Marketing Store Leader to discuss what I want to do and how I want Whole Foods Jackson to be a part of it!  I’m pretty sure the rest of my tour group was not as excited as I was.  I quietly listened and took in all the information, I perused the items that were already on the shelves, deciding what I wanted to try.  I was at the front of the group as often as possible.  I eagerly sampled my helping of goodness.  I eagerly spoke with my tour guide letting him know that I AM A BLOGGER.  I WANT TO BE A PART OF THIS STORE.  And he was SO helpful.  At the end, he asked if I wanted to know anything else and if I got all the information I came to get.  I said yes, but requested a picture, and he quickly replied, “Yes, of course!”

Say hi to Jarrett!

At the end of the tour, they gave us goody bags, of course!  It basically came with an entire meal – pasta, chicken broth (they weren’t giving out vegetable broth, although they offered to check the shelves, I told them my parents would eat it) and pasta sauce.  Also, I got a booklet of coupons and their February calendar of events!  Unfortunately, no one was able to attend with me, so it was rather difficult to get pictures of myself throughout the tour, but here is a sneak peak into the Jackson Whole Foods!

Seriously, it’s BEAUTIFUL!  I’m so in love!

Jarrett was telling us about the “Whole Body” section, where everything is purely organic.  Can’t wait to try some new healthy products!

Yazoo is an area of Mississippi.  I love how they put in so many details to embody our culture and state.  I can’t wait to visit this coffee & taproom.  On Sunday’s, they’ll have Cafe Au Lait and Beignets for only $2!  On Monday’s they’ll have PINT NIGHT.  Half-Price Pints.  I wouldn’t typically drink on a Monday night out in town, but this would be a great girls night place during the week!

I’m quite in love with the shape of our state, so this particularly made me happy!

And there were obviously samples!  Each one was delicious.  Those cupcakes – YUM!  This was a pineapple and something salsa.. I don’t quite remember, but it was delightful!  It had a nice kick to it.

Can’t wait to try Seitan and Tempeh.  I’ve only ever cooked with Tofu, so this will be new territory for this vegetarian soul.

Lastly,  if you’re in the Jackson area, come celebrate the new store opening {or stay home, whatever!  More of a chance for me to win *wink*).  They’ll be giving away loads of gift cards that day, have a grand opening celebration by “Breaking Bread” at 8:45am and then the store is open 9am-8:30pm and there will huge sales, delicious samples, and live music!
Some of my favorite take-aways:
1. They offer a personal shopper service for FREE!
2. If you dislike an item you purchase, even if it’s opened, they will take it back, provide full refund and assist you in finding a product you WILL like!
3. They provide a .10 discount for each reusable item you use at the buffet. I will be re-using my plates and silverware.
Now, hopefully, after reading this post, the Marketing Team Leader will be super excited to meet me once I contact him via e-mail {I’ll give him a few days to adjust to the opening} that he’ll most definitely want to work with me… or offer me a job… or give me free coupons and giveaway products… or just be my BFF.  Honestly, there is just so much potential here.  I’m giddy with excitement!!
Whole Foods, THANK YOU for gracing Mississippi with your presence!  We hope you enjoy it here and find mounds of support!  Welcome Home!

ATL la segunda parte

A few weekends ago, I made the trip to Atlanta and it turned out to be a wonderful weekend.  On Saturday, we did shopping and I tried my very first macaroon.  We ended the evening with the perfect game & wine night.

Sunday was all about the FOOD.  Just about every picture I have from that day deals with the delicious food I ate that day.  Every single meal I tried was unbelievable!  I’m not exaggerating.

We stopped by World Market first.  Not the Cost Plus World Market, but an actual World Market where you can do grocery shopping and they have food from all across the world.  It was an interesting experience.  Extremely busy on a Saturday, but worth the trip.

After we visited World Market, we headed to a cute area outside of Atlanta for lunch.  We found a place called Lawrence’s Cafe where they serve authentic Lebanese cuisine.  I don’t believe I’ve ever had Lebanese before, but they had an unbelievable vegetarian menu, so I knew it’d be worth a shot.  I tried their special for the day and it was amazing!  Perfect taste, perfectly cooked vegetables, perfect rice.

Nick ordered a falafel and it was extremely good too.  We also ordered babaganush because we had never tried it before.  It too was amazing!  Seriously, we were all amazed with our food at this place.  It will be a place I frequent when I visit Atlanta, that’s for sure!

There was a cute donut place right next door and we had already decided to have donuts for dessert.  I was really looking forward to these donuts and again…. I was NOT disappointed.  Their menu was amazing and they noted the donuts that were vegan/vegetarian.

I chose the Raspberry Sprinkle Yeast Style Donut (VEGAN) and Nick chose the Dark Chocolate Baked Cake (VEGAN).  Loved these donuts.  Again, another place to frequent when I visit Atlanta.

After donuts, we really wanted a nap, but I needed to visit my Nanny.  We stopped by my Nanny’s for a few hours and enjoyed a good chat and some coffee.
Eventually we made our way to dinner.  We were going to try this burger place, but the line was ridiculous, so we ended up at this neat Mexican restaurant.  My new favorite vegetarian Mexican dish is rice with saute’d bell peppers, tomatoes, and onions (one day I’ll add mushrooms) on top and cheese sauce drizzled over it with a side of beans.  Seriously, SO GOOD!

After that huge meal, we all went back to the apartment to rest and enjoy our last evening together.

Like I said, Sunday was all about the food and I was one happy girl!

Just a few random notes:  I really badly want a fancy camera now.  I’m enjoying picture taking, but my pictures are definitely lacking in quality.  They are so expensive…. I think it’ll be worth saving for though!  I also promised my dear friend Meg that I would link-up for her Kitchen Mix Up fun, but I haven’t yet.  I figured out what I want to cook finally and I’ll be working on that ASAP!  I would have done it tonight if my parents didn’t take me out to dinner.  We went to Newks.  It was delicious.  Bless your soul if you don’t have a Newks in your area.  I got the veggie pizza, it’s amazing!! I’m so surprised at myself… veggies are starting to taste good!
