Welcome to Paris!

I was going through and deleting all my drafts that never got used (you know, the It’s OK Thursdays you intended to write and then forgot about…) and I stumbled upon this beauty that was written, but never posted.  It’s a super random post I did too… so if you can stick around til the end, kudos to you!

This is a somewhat strange post, I must admit.  I was taking pictures of me packing back in January (when I left for Disney!)… and I’m sure you all realized in that post {here} that the room I’m taking pictures in looks somewhat strange, it’s not your average room, that’s for sure!  My parents always gave me and my sisters the opportunity to paint our rooms whichever way we liked when we were younger… we have ended up with some interesting things!  When I was in highschool, my room had ORANGE walls, LIME GREEN concrete floors, and one accent wall that was striped with pink, blue, yellow, red, and orange!  It was the brightest place on Earth, I’m sure!

Man.. highschool… we dressed up crazy after painting the room and did a picture overload! The accent wall!
You can see the green floor, orange wall, and stripes all in one picture!

Another room that one of my sisters had was hot pink and lime green (We call it the Barney room!)  So when my middle sister took over my old striped room, she chose the theme of PARIS!  My sister is a great painter, she got the talent from my grandfather!  So she painted her room pink, with an accent wall that is black with a saying and the Eiffel tower!  I thought it would be fun to give you a full view of the bits and pieces you saw in my post {here}.

On a side note, you may remember my sweet Korean friend from my post {here}!  I met with her before I left for Orlando back in January and she gave me some Korean snacks, which was super sweet of her!  (She always had something for me!)  I gobbled them up right away and they were delicious (I know, where are my manners, right?)  and then after I ate them… I was like man, I wish I had saved them because now I’m sad I ate them!  Well she insisted on giving me some more snacks, so I wanted to share them with you all before I ate them up again!

The purple package is a white chocolate wafer thing that is superb! and The “choco-pie” is just like a smaller version of our American Moon Pie!  I was able to save them until I got to Orlando!

The Elevator Diaries [part 1]

For those of you who don’t know, I work on Mississippi State Universities campus.  I’m an affiliate of the university, not an actual faculty member, but I’m a recent college grad.  My office is located in a dorm building called South Hall on campus.  It’s a recently built building, so it’s really nice and our offices are on the 3rd floor.  I don’t usually take the elevator, but I had this encounter and thought it might be fun to share some various encounters I may have on the elevator.  I’m sure you can imagine that riding a freshman dorm elevator can be somewhat amusing from time to time.  I’m not sure how many stories I’ll have after this, but I thought I’d go ahead and get the ball rolling with The elevator diaries, part 1!

Freshman Boy: So, you done with classes today?
Me: Um… no, actually, I work in this building on the 3rd floor
Freshman Boy: OH… wow… I’m really sorry.. I didn’t know.. {awkward moment}
Me: No, it’s fine.  Thank you though!
Freshman Boy: Wow… that’s really embarrasing.

So {one} He had to have thought I was a freshman, I’m definitely 5 years older than that! {two} I took it as a compliment because even though I’m not that old yet and most people my age or striving to look older, I’m still happy to know that I look young so that when I am actually old, I will hopefully still look 5 years younger! and {three} I’m not sure why he felt so embarrased unless he realized that he was accidentally about to hit on someone 5 years older than him!

It’s fall break on campus, all the kiddos are away, and the office is peaceful… thank you!  Dear Job, sorry I was like 40 minutes late today (and sorry I’ve been late a little bit each day) I really need to work on that for next week and get into super planning, motivated, scheduled, productive mode!  Be ready for it!  Dear early morning jog, you felt amazing, the weather was wonderful (although I wish it’d stay that temp ALL DAY!) and the run felt good.  Dear Christen, I’m so excited to have lunch with you today! You are such a huge role model in my life and I just enjoy every meet up we have! And thank you for all the times that you have paid for lunch… it’s always a blessing!  Dear Nick and Joel, I’m really excited about Talladega on Sunday and I’m really happy ya’ll invited me! I’ve never been, but I think it’s going to be awesome and it will give me a really great blog post for later (score!)  Dear iphone, you’re wonderful, i love you, end of story.  Dear Fall, please hurry up and come… I’ve tried to force you to get here by wearing scarves and boots and all things TOO WARM when the middle of the day hits (not a fan!)  Dear Grant Writing Class, I’m looking forward to using you to help the non-profits I have a heart and passion for!  Dear new iphone case, you are gorgeous, and you display everything I stand for and love – Mississippi.

Dear Mississippi, you’re misunderstood, I get that, and there will always be haters, and yes, we are on the bottom of the totempole in a lot of circumstances, but always remember that I adore you and you have a lot to offer and you’re one of my
favorite places on earth!

Happy Friday peeps, enjoy the weekend!
