Starbucks Tomato & Basil Panini

Good Morning!

We are back to Monday – I hope you all had a great weekend!  Mine was a lot of fun, I headed up to Starkville.  I’ll be recapping some events from the weekend later today!

Let’s start with BREAKFAST.  It’s a good one this morning.  I’m really trying to eat a larger breakfast to help fuel me through the day!

Cup of coffee, of course!  English muffin with honey & butter, Morning Star Farms Sausage Links, and a Banana.  It was delicious.

I planned on waking up this morning for a run, but I’m seriously trying to improve on some bad habits I have.  One of those being the amount of sleep I get at night.  I got exactly 7 hours last night, preferably I’d get more, but that’s the reason I didn’t wake up any sooner.  I’m packing my gym bag for work though so I can squeeze in a workout at the gym after I get off.  Another bad habit I’m working on is my water intake.  I definitely don’t get enough to keep my moving body hydrated.  I’ve been working on a system at work that helps increase my intake by setting a goal to drink my blender bottle full of water by 12:30 and then again by 4:30, so I get about 44oz. right there.  It still needs some improvement.

This past weekend in Starkville, I experienced two very different scenarios that a vegetarian may find themselves in.

First, Nick and I had Mexican on Friday night.  I mentioned that in my post on Fun with Food Camp (btw, I found out it’s culinary camp – very cool).  I found a piece of chicken & steak in my veggies.  Something completely different happened on Sunday though at Starbucks.  I was there alone working on the blog, enjoying my skinny caramel macchiato and a lady offered me a sample of their panini (with ham & Swiss).  I thanked her, but told her I’m a vegetarian.  She moved on to the next guy.  A few minutes later, she brings over a bag and says that this panini has NO MEAT in it, it’s a tomato & basil (I’m fairly certain it was also larger than the first panini I was offered.  I was extremely thankful because that was unnecessarily sweet!  By the way, it was delicious – so if you’re hungry on the road and need to stop for some lunch, I highly recommend the tomato & basil panini from Starbucks!

Alright friends, I’m off to get ready for work, but I’ll be back later to recap my weekend!

  • What do you eat for breakfast to fuel your day?
  • How do you measure your water intake & what tricks do you use to increase that?
  • Have you had the Tomato & Basil Panini at Starbucks?  What were your thoughts?

Yay, it’s Friday!

This morning I had 2 pieces of toast for BREAKFAST.  One buttered and one with peanut butter.  I’m finding myself completely in love with toast.

Yesterday I had lunch with a sweet friend – we’d been meaning to catch up for a while.  We had Japanese and I got the vegetable hibachi.  I was so hungry that I forgot to take a picture.  Question for my veggie freinds out there.  I was served the onion soup.  At first I didn’t think anything about eating it.  Honestly, I’m not a fan of it but I was thinking it might be healthy for me.  Then I realized it was brothy and a lot of broths are made with chicken.  I asked the waitress and she said it wasn’t.  I still didn’t finish it though because I felt wierd eating it.  Do you know how they typically make onion soup at Japanese restaurants?

Sometimes when I get bored at work, Nick experiences some cheesy texts.  I sent him this yesterday in the middle of work and I loved the way he responded!  He’s not the mushy type haha, but he caught all of my kisses!

When I got home from work, I folded some clothes and then headed out for biblestudy.  We discussed being ready for marriage and like usual, we digressed pretty heavily.  It was such an empowering time though!  I love how these girls came together – as it was mentioned last night, we’re all SO different.  I wouldn’t have picked out these girls from a lineup to be in my biblestudy group, but God knew better than I did that this was the place for me.  I just love our time together on Thursday nights.  I enjoyed some Chamomile Citrus Tea & a Monster Cookie {that I got for FREE!}

Do not be fooled.  I ate the entire cookie last night.

WordPress is hard, y’all.  People love it and I’m really trying to!  I cannot figure out my comments though.  I’m trying to make it where I can reply back via e-mail to the comments you leave me.  That’s what I loved so much about blogger.  I feel like there was real interaction there.  I have these plugins installed that are suppose to make me do that, but I’ve been testing it with various e-mail accounts I have and I’m not receiving any responses when I reply.  I just ask that you bear with me, I am seeing your comments and I love reading them and I apologize that I haven’t been as great with responding to them like I was when I had a blogger blog.  If you’re a WordPress user and have any input for me, I’d greatly appreciate it!  I’m using CommentLuv, but also trying the Email to reply comment plugin and I’m just not sure why it’s not responding how it should unless it has to do with the theme and template I chose.

Hopefully I’ll get a lot of issues resolved this weekend when I have more time to work on it.

  • What weekend plans do you have?
  • Any suggestions on my comment issue?  How do you WordPress users manage comments?

HIIT workout & hair

Today was a long day at work!  I was happy to see 4:30 roll around so I could change into my WORKOUT clothes and head to the gym.  I realized right before heading out that I was a little hungry and I’m NOT okay with working out on a hungry stomach!  I scavenged through my desk drawers and thank goodness I found a small amount of granola left over!  I downed that and some water on the way to the gym.

I arrived to the gym and was going to a HIIT class which is high intensity interval training (at least that’s what I abbreviate it to be).  It’s a high energy, fun class and I really enjoy the instructor (who is also named Heather!)  The craziest thing happened – I was the ONLY person in the class.  Seriously, that’s never happened!  Usually I would feel really awkward, but I went with it and we started the class.  Luckily, one girl came in 10 minutes in and another girl came in about half-way through the class.  Am I the only one who doesn’t like coming in late to a class?  If it’s started, I just won’t go!  I need to get over that awkward fear though!  After HIIT, I finished up with a 15 minute ab class.

I really like my hair pulled back this way with a side french-braid.  It keep it out of my face when I run or workout.

After the gym, I headed home for some DINNER.  I made some pasta w/ vegetarian chicken.  It wasn’t anything fancy, but typically a quick pasta gets the job done for me.  I used Whole Foods Pasta (that I got on the Whole Foods Grand Opening Tour), Kroger brand Tomato & Basil Pasta Sauce, and Simple Truth Meatless Patties w/ a side of toast.

Now I’m off to check out some new blogs – I feel like I lost touch of that this past year and I’m ready to find some new reads and make some new friends!! Have any suggestions, let me know!

Have a great Tuesday evening!
