273 Days

273 Days.

That’s how long it’s been since my last blog post was published.

Almost a whole year, but not quite!

And Yes… I actually counted up the days correctly.  You know, using my knuckles to determine which months had 30 or 31 (and calculating 28 for February.)  You could say that I had a lot of time on my hands… or you could say I was determined to write a blog post finally and if I counted up how many days it had been, then I would have no excuse but to post that information for the world to see!

So here’s the deal – I stay busy.  I like to stay busy.  And somewhere along the road, my blog fell to the side.  I have a husband & dog to care for (Huge points to those of you with children!  Because… How?), my Arbonne business to run, children to motivate & encourage through Boosterthon, biblestudy, social activities, running, traveling, & more!  I love it, honestly.  I also love blogging though and have been missing that frequent punch of keys to empty my brain out.

I’ve been having a constant battle between wanting to blog, but also not feeling like I have the time – maybe I should say, not choosing to make the time.  Why?  Because I honestly felt like I needed to post every.single.day.  Yes, Exhausting.  I have finally come to the conclusion that I don’t have to blog every single day.  My goal right now will be once a week!  Let’s see how once a week treats me and we can go from there because I miss it and I want it to be a part of my life, but I don’t have room to make it a daily activity yet.

I am pretty excited about opening this little space back up!  If you’re still following along (insert huge dramatic laughter here!) then I want to thank you for showing up and taking a few minutes out of your day to read this post.  I hope & pray you’ll be seeing me a little more frequently and we can truly connect!  Connecting is one of the reasons I love blogging – making friends from all around the world!  It’s a beautiful thing.

Until next week, I’ll leave you with this…. a candid shot from our wedding back in February!  My goal is to blog at some point about a few details that made our wonderful day everything that it was.

Have a wonderful Tuesday friends!

Life Lately

Good morning friends!

I’ll be heading to Atlanta shortly, but I wanted to pop in and catch the blog up on some things going on lately since I haven’t been around much.  I’m so excited about my trip to Atlanta – I’ll see my precious cousin and her little ones, my grandmother, some aunts and uncles, and friends on this trip while also taking a class for the Series 7 Exam.  So what’s been going on?

  • I bought a house!

Crazy, I know.  I had a great experience buying a house and would love to recap that at some point.  I have a few projects on the horizon, so there will definitely be some before/after posts coming soon.

I’m getting fairly settled in, but it’s been crazy busy in my neck of the woods and things are coming together a lot more slowly than I initially anticipated.  The kitchen is organized though and I have my coffee pot brewing coffee, so that is the biggest start to making a house feel like home in my opinion.  This has been such a fun and exciting experience for me and I’m so thrilled to have my sister living with me during this time!

  • Street Vegan and other Vegan Cookbooks

street-vegan

I’ve been waiting to have my own kitchen back for 3 years now.  Over the past 3 years, I have collected a multitude of vegan cookbooks.  One of which was recently given to me by some friends.  My birthday is in April, but I didn’t get this gift until last week, which turned out to be perfect timing with buying a house.  This cookbook looks so unique and fun!  I’m also looking forward to cooking from Raw. Vegan. Not Gross. and Vegan Cooking for Carnivores.

  • Book Club is Back!!

This is very very exciting, y’all!  We took a little book club hiatus and kept talking and talking about getting it back together…. well, we finally took the plunge!!  We started off with a night at Katy’s picking books and hostesses.  Katy provided tiny home-made pizza’s that we could personalize.  It was so much fun, we always have a great time getting together!  It’s wonderful to love who you work with and I certainly do.

Then Chris made the cutest bookmarks to let us know when/where/which book we’ll be reading!  The first book club was at Chris’ house and she made some delicious bruschetta.

The host always provides the dinner and then you bring your own choice of beverage, usually wine.

  • My best friend is back

me and lacy

Back in July, I got a text message from my friend Lacy (who I met as a VISTA and who was currently working and living in South Carolina) that said she was applying to Law School at Mississippi College in Jackson, MS.  I was thrilled to say the least, but honestly didn’t believe it would actually happen.  I knew she’d get in and I knew she’d get the scholarship she wanted because she’s brilliant, but I wasn’t sure if she would actually take the plunge and move here.  Her boyfriend is still in South Carolina and I didn’t really think she’d be too excited about moving back to Mississippi.  She got accepted, got the scholarship, and decided to accept!  She’ll be here for three years and we have so many memories to make!  The very first memory made was with Sweet Tea, of course.

Well, that highlights a little about what’s been going on.  I’m off to finish laundry & packing, but I’m hoping to be back more frequently these days.  I have internet at my new house now, I have inspirational places to blog, and I have lots to blog about!

  • What’s been going on in your life lately?
  • Have you bought a house, what was your experience?
  • What do you think makes a house feel more like a home?

Wonderful FABuary!

Hi there!  My blog posts continue to be few & far between, but I’m excited about what February has to offer!  I have a few different “challenges” going on with myself this month that I believe are going to tremendously improve my quality of life, my discipline, and my mental/physical health.

  • NO TV

I have committed to watching ZERO television this month.  I realized in January that I was getting very addicted to Netflix (mostly Criminal Minds – which I’ve already seen!)  I felt like a lot of time was being wasted with Netflix playing in the background, distracting me from what I should be doing, or I would stay up late to continue watching it, allowing it play in the background as I fell asleep.  We all know that’s not the medicine for a good night’s rest.  I believe that cutting out television will allow more time for blogging (yippee!), more time for reading and self development, more time for fitness, more time for cooking, more time with Nick, and more time working my Arbonne business.

  • DISNEY PRINCESS HALF MARATHON

My half-marathon is this month and I haven’t done a great job of blogging about training, etc. so my guess is that most of you don’t even have a clue that I’m running a half marathon this month!  But surprise, I am!  I’m actually really excited because it’ll be another opportunity to see my sweet and dearly loved blog friend, Meg!  Training has been a lot better this time around than most.  I’m up to about 9.5 miles, should be at around 11 or 13, but my knee has still been giving me trouble.  I have finally accepted the fact that it’s my IT band and I’ve been doing a lot of stretching and foam rolling to work it out.  It has proven to help tremendously with pain during a run.  I just completed 5 miles this evening after work and didn’t stop to walk once.  That’s a huge accomplishment for me!  I’ve been getting miles in, but they haven’t been great miles.  They’re either painful, or I have to take a lot of walking breaks to get through it.  I seriously wanted to take a nap instead of go for a run today, but I pushed my butt out the door and completely surprised myself!

  • 30 DAYS TO HEALTHY LIVING

I’m doing Arbonne’s 30 Days to Healthy Living Program this month.  I was supposed to do it in January, but that fell apart pretty quickly.  Nothing like next month, I guess!  I started it today and for the most part I’ve done really well so far.  We had donuts brought in for our staff meeting this morning and I said NO even though I had been craving donuts the day before.  Later in the day, someone dropped by some cookies for me.  I would love to say that I 100% refrained, but that’s not the case.  I ate half a cookie.  I wasn’t proud of myself, in fact I was disappointed, but tomorrow is another day and I get another chance to say no to temptation.  Also, the rest of my day was great, food wise!  I get in a really bad habit of consuming sugar & sweets so I needed something to help combat that before race day.  I love all the Arbonne products and the protein shakes are delicious!

I can already tell that my month of no tv is going to change my life!  Tonight, I got home, went for my 5 mile run, came home and showered, finished a book that I’ve been reading for far too long, made dinner, started a load of laundry, and now I’m about to head off to bed.  I’ll be in bed by 10pm tonight!  I definitely think I’ll be well rested by the end of the month, my Arbonne business will be strong, my training would have been successful, my quality time with Nick will be more interactive and fun, you’ll see more than just this blog post, and I my self-development will be off the charts!

Cheers to a wonderful FABuary!
